2. 1. How often do you read magazines and
of what genre?
I received two answers to how often they read magazines as my
first interviewee replied with monthly and the second with weekly,
this would influence how often I choose to produce my own
magazine. With regards to genre they read magazines of both
fashion and gossip, this was interesting as the magazine I am
planning on producing would also be a fashion magazine therefore
it would be more likely to appeal to them.
I have now chosen that I would produce my magazine monthly
and has also backed up my idea of a fashion magazine as this has
proven that my target audience would be interested in reading
one.
3. 2. What magazines do you already read?
Glamour and Cosmopolitan magazine were the answers I received
therefore I am able to see who my competition is but also which
magazines I should use as my inspiration.
By finding this out I will m now research Glamour and
Cosmopolitan magazine in more detail in a way which I can see
how they have constructed their magazine and to find some
inspiration which I could include in my magazine and challenge
their conventions.
4. 3. Would you be interested in buying a
fashion magazine?
Both of my interviewees replied with yes therefore I believe I have
chosen an appropriate genre to suit my target audience. This also
tells me that their could be room in the market for another fashion
magazine.
5. 4. What would attract you to a magazine?
'The clothing used and the text on the front cover', 'The models
and images would attract me and the colour scheme as if it is bold
it would stand out' With receiving this feedback I am now able to
see which conventions I should include to allow my magazine to
attract and appeal to my target audience.
I will use; fashionable 'in trend' clothing, a vary of text sizes and
fonts, include young attractive female models who the audience
would be able to relate to in the images with poses and styling
which would fit with my theme but will also be interesting for the
target audience and a bright bold colour scheme for instant impact
on the viewer.
6. 5. What would you be interested in
reading about in an article?
'Celebrity stories to do with fashion', 'fashion and make up tips'
this would be an important aspect to include an interesting article
which the target audience would be drawn into reading. With this
information I am able to get a further idea on what I will include in
my main article and what I will write it about.
I have decided based on this response that I will include a
celebrities fashion look with a high street version on how to
recreate it, I will also include the make up which they use.
7. 6. What shops do you like on the high
street and why?
These specific individuals like the stores; Topshop, Bank and River
Island. The reasons why they like these stores is because they are
affordable, with a good quality of clothing for the price and they
like the style clothing which they sell. By finding this out I am able
to see which brands I should include inside my magazine to allow it
to appeal to the target audiences style and also allows them to
recognise the brands and to know exactly where they can get the
clothing from without any confusion or trouble. This would also
make the article more entertaining for them and useful with using
brands they recognise I would be able to attract them more as
they would recognise this brands for been good quality and
affordable.
I have chosen to feature these brands inside my magazine and
others like them.
8. 7. Where did you get the clothes you are
wearing now?
The clothing my representatives of the target audience were
wearing were from the stores; Bank, Primark, Levi, Office and
Topshop. This shows me where my target audience likes to shop in
greater detail as this also allows me to see how they use these
stored to style themselves from the day I undertook the interview.
These are also stores which I should think about including inside
my magazine.
I have also chosen to use these stores inside my magazine as
these would allow my magazine to appeal to the target audience
and they would be more interested within its features.
9. 8. Where did you get the make up you
are wearing now?
The makeup these individuals were wearing was from; Superdrug, Benefit and
MAC. The makeup they were wearing was mascara, foundation and bronzer.
This allows me to see what makeup types my target audience like to wear and
therefore what I should include in my magazine. This also shows me which
make up brands I should use. I do have to consider the fact that the make up
which they were wearing was there casual wear therefore they could also
wear more for special occasions in which I should include various other types
of makeup from these brands as this could not only give them more choice
but could also be included as make up tips which was a recommendation from
a previous question relating to my articles.
I will use these brands in my magazine and some chosen others as this
would allow me to give the audience more choice and therefore a more
entertaining article. I will also include tips on when would be best to wear this
style of makeup and what clothing to match with to complete the look.
10. 9. What celebrities style inspires you?
The answers I received were Cara Delevigne and Michelle Keegan
as both their styles are casual and laid back. This means that in
order to appeal to my target audience I should study these
celebrities styles and incorporate them into my magazine. By
finding out that my target audience like a chill laid back style will
also influence the clothing I choose to include in my magazine.
I will incorporate these two celebrities styles into my magazines
as this would create an appeal to them and make my articles more
interesting for them. Thus making my magazine more successful.
11. 10. Would you buy a magazine which
does not feature celebrities?
'Yeah as long as the features are still interesting', ' I wouldn't mind
as long as it was a fashion magazine as I would be more interested
in the clothing'. This tells me that It is not essential that I include
celebrities inside my magazine as long as I still ensure that the
articles are interesting. It does however also show by the choice of
words that they would still be interested in seeing celebrities
therefore it could be a good idea to include them.
Based on this feedback I have chosen to include celebrities as
even though they have answered that they wouldn't mind I do still
believe they would be interested in them as they have also said
that some of their styles inspire them. This would also be a good
choice for an article basis.
12. 11. How much are you willing to pay for a
magazine?
The answers I received were; 'Anything up to £3' and 'Between £2 to £3
pound as I am a student I cant afford any more than that weekly'. This
gives me a price boundary for my magazine as by choosing appropriate
representative for my target audience I am able to see how much they
would ideally like to pay for a magazine. Being a student is also a good
point as with my target audience are fairly young this means that they will
not have a vast amount of money spare for entertainment and luxuries.
This would have to be kept in mind for the success of the magazine and to
be competitive.
I have chosen to make my magazine £2 as since it was stated that they
would be willing to pay £2 a week they will definitely be able to pay this
monthly. This also shows that I have considered their financial situated in
order to make the magazine more attractive and appealing to them.
