Lessons learned
Follow and exploit FESTA handbook especially its Implementation plan
(Annex)
Distribute early the responsibilities (marketing, maintenance, etc..)
Enforce harmonisation of data loggers and data formats
When selecting vehicles and drivers: Be carefull of creating biased
experiments or at least document them to take them into account in data
analysis
Do not underestimate the piloting time
Plan on vehicle and installation delays
Expect driver drop outs and plan to interact with them
Be carefull of bad publicity – clear information is key
Do not understimate the importance of the incentives, take care of all of
its aspects during the planning
Legal and ethical issues should be investigated and settled before the
driver and vehicle recruitment starts
There is no successful driver recruitment without the full support of the
OEMs marketing department
Use a multitude of implementation of subjective data gathering (hard
copy, web-based, interviewing)
Use of professional customer care service is adviceable
