S
elf learning suited them best.
Online tutorials, self compo-
sitions, practice and playing
for themselves made them learn the
pure sense of music. They are the
band members of the young and en-
thusiastic band Dark Moon Eterni-
ty. The band comprises of five tal-
ented members namely Abhilash ,
who actually founded the band and
plays bass for the band; Umang and
Nishant, who are engineering stu-
dents; Umang is one of the gui-
tarists; Nishant is the lead vocalist
in the band; Kartik, is the drummer
and Paras, is the second guitarist in
the band.
They play metalcore which is also
known as metallic hardcore, a broad
fusion genre blending extreme met-
al and hardcore punk. It is consid-
ered as one of the heaviest music to
play. But, that is the USP of the group
and they don't fear from taking any
challenge. "We love playing such mu-
sic. Music has become our life now;
it is the only love of our lives. We
cannot imagine ourselves not doing
what we love. The best part is that
we enjoy playing live; it fills us with
a lot of energy and fun. Moreover,
when people appreciate this kind of
music and our efforts, it really mo-
tivates us," they say.
For any college goer, it would be
difficult to manage studies along
with passion. But, they do it quite
efficiently. "It is little difficult to
manage studies and work with mu-
sic, but then, that is the least we do
for the few things we love in life. Pas-
sion and commitment is the word
here," expresses Abhilash.
Though it is a young band, their
journey has been nothing less than
a rollercoaster ride. "There have
been many ups and downs. Some
days have been really good days and
some bad days. But, all this is a part
of life and we have enjoyed every
moment of it," they share.
Different people have different as-
pirations. Similarly, everyone in the
band has a different taste in
music and they bring in their cre-
ativity to the band. This is what makes
thebandreallyuniqueandfun.Umang
is more inclined towards Melodic
DeathMetalwhileNishantisintoElec-
tronics Dance Music (EDM).
Since its inception, there has
been no looking back for the band
and its members. They won the IIT
Roorkee competition in 2012. Re-
cently, they made everyone proud
by giving a live performance at the
Indian Hockey League. Other than
this, they have showcased their tal-
ent on many great platforms. Last
year in October, they created a buzz
by mesmerising an audience which
had never seen a live concert before.
"They were those people who had
never been to a metal concert in
their lives. It was real fun doing that
and a proud moment for all of us as
well," they say.
Their never-say-die spirit and
hunger to be the best inspires them
to experiment and take challenges.
"Everyday is a challenge for us. We
aim to grow and develop ourselves
as great musicians. We make sure
that we raise and push our level with
each song and show. It is never sat-
isfying; the more you do, the less it
is," they echo together. Band meme-
bers are all set ready to release their
album by the end of this year.
All the band members are Noida
residents and admit that they are
proud to be living in this beautiful
city. "Whatever we are today, is all
because of the facilities we have got
from the city. We even have our jam
pad in Noida where we practice.
Noidaites have accepted our talent
with open arms," they sum up.

I
have just finished an internship with a cor-
porate law firm. I realised an internship is an
opportunity not only to gain knowledge and
fill in the blanks between class room theory and
practice, but for personal growth as well. Good
office etiquette can take you a long way. I write
about office etiquette as in my opinion, it will
benefit all students, who intend to take up an in-
ternship, regardless of the industry they choose.
A recent study by Princeton University Psy-
chologists Janine Willis and Alexander Todorov
revealsthatittakeslessthan0.1secondsforsome-
one to form an impression and that longer ex-
posure time does not readily alter that first look.
A positive first impression begins with a straight
posture, eye contact and a firm handshake along
with a smile and a head nod, while you introduce
yourself. A firm grip projects your confidence
and a smile, with a head nod, your pleasure to
meet the person. Along with this, your turn out
is also very important. Before the firm learns
about your personality, they can only judge you
on your appearance. Formal attire leaves a bet-
ter impression. This is the first step to acting pro-
fessional - look it!
Greet and respect everyone, no matter what
their status is. Courtesy will take you miles and
it speaks volumes about your personality. Ego in
the workplace serves only to hinder
further progress.
Time and tide don't wait for anyone. Punctu-
ality and time management are the next step to
behaving professional. Punctuality demonstrates
your eagerness to work and your respect and val-
ue for time. Time management involves the use
of time efficiently and allocating specific time
slots to work given as per their importance. Un-
derstandyourworkwellandsettargetsandgoals.
Try and meet your own deadlines. Efficiency and
hard work really pays off. It not only reflects on
your work, but also fetches you appreciation,
which can really boost your confidence.
Good things come to those who wait. Any
shortage of work, which happens very often to
interns, can be compensated for by self-study. It
is by far the best way to utilise your time. This is
one trait that will help in all spheres of life. Us-
ing social networking sites, playing online games
or conducting personal work during work hours
is not a very wise idea and displays to others your
insincerity and lack of interest.
Office etiquette is something one can only
learn in a working environment. It is a good idea
to leave your mobile on silent or vibrate mode.
Attend calls only if you have to, that too in a place
away from everyone's work station. Your talking
can disturb them.
The next most important thing, behave pro-
fessionally. You must engage in the right con-
versation at work. Discussing last night's episode
of Gossip Girl might make you sound like an im-
mature teenager. You want your co-workers and
seniors to take you seriously. Always talk to and
approach your seniors with respect. They have
a lot of experience and there is a lot that you can
learn from them. Ask for work or offer to help.
Show you are eager and interested to learn.
In an office, you operate through e-mail. You
should know how and what to say while sending
professional emails. First and foremost, create
an up-to-date email address. ‘Iam_arockstar’ does-
not reflect very well on you. An email should be
unambiguous and concise for the reader. Be care-
ful about your tone, it can be misinterpreted. Use
good grammar and proof read it before sending
because spell check is not your friend.
Work etiquette in a formal environment is
something we as school going students aren't fa-
miliar with. It is a value based on hard work, dili-
gence and it enhances one's character. Work eti-
quette governs our social behaviour with our
peers, co-workers and seniors.
Interning at a law firm taught me key skills
such as taking initiative and that responsibility
and accountability go hand in hand. It further
polished my soft skills like listening, social, in-
terpersonal,communicatingeffectivelyandclear-
ly, and thinking on your feet. These are skills
which lie beyond the scope of any textbook.
The final step, maintain a log book of all that
you do, because you will be learning a lot more
than you think and expect. It is a fun experience
and you make a lot of friends. You most certain-
ly walk out more knowledgeable.
Flames of eternity
They are a band of young and enthusiastic musicians who are ready to set Noida on fire.
Here's a chit chat with the band members of Dark Room Eternity
Nobody helps even
after an accident
I am a resident of Sector-62
and all I can say about the
traffic conditions in Noida is
that they are horrible. It is
very dirty. People don't
follow the rules and
jumping the signal is a very
common occurrence in Noida. A very sad thing
is that even after an accident has taken place,
we see nobody coming out to help the
accident victims.
——AAvvnneeeesshh JJoosshhii
Fine is just ``50
The traffic is bad and the
police is horrible. The traffic
police of Delhi and Noida
both are not very active. In
fact, we have seen so many
times that people break
traffic rules by not wearing
a helmet, drinking and driv-
ing, jumping red lights and these people are
left in a mere amount of `50. Roads are always
crowded and it is unbearable.
——NNaarreennddrraa SSiinngghh
Tragic traffic
If you ask me about traffic,
tragic is the correct word
that comes to my mind. I
think having a responsible
driving sense is more impor-
tant than the rules, because
if you have sense, you can
invent your own rules and
be in limits. The traffic police is helpless be-
cause of the actions of people. If everybody is
following the rules and doing their part right,
everything will fall in place.
——AAsshheeeesshh
Don’t ask about
traffic
We encounter horrific traf-
fic jams on our way here
everyday, which is funny
because the situation is
the same even during non
peak hours. However, traf-
fic in Delhi is worse than
the traffic in Noida. There are a lot of prob-
lems mainly because of uncivilised drivers
that are responsible for all the chaos and ac-
cidents on the road.
——RReeeennaa AAhhuujjaa
Situation is better now
Even though I don't have any specific information
on the topic, I have observed that heavy traffic,
breaking of rules, accidents, and many such prob-
lems have considerably gone down. Also, I don't
want to generalise by making a comment about
people breaking rules, because it depends on per-
son-to-person. But yes, there is extremely heavy
traffic during peak rush hours.
——SSoonnaallii
Problems because of road rage
Traffic conditions are extremely bad and hard to
deal with during peak hours. Other than that, it is
fine. My personal opinion is that people have no
driving sense and a lot of accidents happen be-
cause of road rage. I often see people breaking
traffic rules, such as jumping red lights. Howev-
er, the traffic police is doing its work very nicely
and is effective.
——AAttuullyyaa
Traffic police needs
to be stricter
The traffic dynamics are
horrible. I hardly see any-
body following the rules
and regulations; people
ride without helmets and
jump the signals and noth-
ing is done about it. The
traffic police is hardly visible anywhere. They
have to be stricter with people to ensure that
they follow the rules. Only that can make way
for better road safety in Noida.
——PPoooonnaamm
Traffic police
doesn’t care
There are two really impor-
tant things. One, people
have absolutely no traffic
sense and second that they
don't follow red lights.
There is a lot of chaos on the
roads because of slow-mov-
ing vehicles. The Noida traffic police is very in-
active compared to its Delhi counterpart and
doesn't take any action.
——LLeeeezzaa
In spite of action, traffic chaos continues in Noida
Noida has really chaotic roads and traffic. Though a lot is being done, it still hasn't
improved the situation. Here are a few residents of Noida sharing their views
