ABOUT KUALA LUMPURKuala Lumpur is the capital of Malaysia. From its centralized position which spans 243.6 sq. kilometers, this ultra-modern nerve centre of Malaysia expands outwards to embrace the world.
Discovering KL (as locals affectionately call it) is like travelling through a time tunnel. Here, vivid traces of history continue to influence and inspire a country set on becoming a fully industrialized nation by the year 2020.You will see ultra-modern skyscrapers standing magnificently next to rows and rows of quaint old shop houses. Haute cuisine beside hawker stalls.
To the avid shopper, KL is paradise. From world-renowned designer labels and brands to exquisite made-in-Malaysia items, the highly competitive environment that exists among traders is a blessing in disguise to shoppers. While department stores practice a fixed price policy, bargain hunters can test their skills at smaller retail establishments or at any one of KL's famous night markets. KL will enthrall you. It will capture your heart and mind in a way no other city will.
SOURCE : http://www.kualalumpurtravel.com/
CLIMATE
Kuala Lumpur is an affable city that can be enjoyed in every season. Amidst plethora of tourist attractions, it is perhaps the most-visited destination of Malaysia. Kuala Lumpur, being the country's capital, makes the venue for numerous major events and occasions. Also KL is the largest city and the major gateway to Malaysia, it attracts people for different reasons, which could range from shopping, sightseeing attractions, business meetings to conferences.
As regards its travel peak season, there is no definite period because people usually plan holidays as per their own convenience. While Kuala Lumpur is hot and humid throughout the year, every season offers best time to visit this exciting city. But yes, a holiday can be planned considering the weather conditions and festive season. Weather, as we all know, is usually warm but becomes pleasant as and when it rains.
During day-time, the temperature remains above 30°C though nights are comparatively cooler. Rain showers are very common and in fact, they help to keep the temperature balanced. The city becomes a riot of colors in the months of October till January, when different festivals are celebrated with full enthusiasm and people from different parts of the world come to watch the glitterati. Thus, including the festive season, Kuala Lumpur can be visited round the year.
SOURCE:http://www.malaysiatravel.org.uk/tourist-attraction/kuala-lumpur/best-time-to-visit.html
MAPS
http://www.google.co.in/images?hl=en&source=imghp&biw=1362&bih=591&q=kuala+lumpur+map&gbv=2&aq=1&aqi=g5g-m3&aql=&oq=kuala+lumpur+ma&gs_rfai=
FESTIVALS in KUALA LUMPUR
City Day - KL commemorates becoming a federal territory on 1 February each year with celebrations at Tasik Perdana and Lake Titiwangsa gardens.
Flora Fest -KL goes flower-crazy in January/February with exhibitions and the international Floral Parade.
KL International Tower Jump -Adrenaline junkies descend on KL in March for the one day they can legally Base jump off the Menara KL.
KL Festival - July is a month of events showcasing Malaysian art, dance, theatre and music.
KL International Buskers Festival - The streets fill with performers for nine days of musical and acrobatic fun during December.
Malaysian Grand Prix - Special shopping promotions accompany the annual Formula One race at Sepang International Circuit in March/April.
Malaysia Fest - Two weeks in May – a celebration with exhibits of traditional arts and special cultural performances around town.
Shopping Carnival - Shopping in KL becomes even more of a bargain as prices plummet during this annual June sale.
SOURCE : www.kltowerjump.com, www.klfestival.org.my, www.malaysiangp.com.my, www.malaysiabuskers.com
With all this fests and carnivals, shopping expenditures are estimated at ` 15,000.
MONEY
The currency in KL is Ringgets.
Source : http://www.exchange-rates.org/Rate/INR/MYR
Currency can be changed at
Maybank Forex Counter (Jln Hang Lekir, Chinatown; 10am-6pm)
RHB Bank (Ground fl, Suria KLCC; 10am-7pm)
AIR TRAVEL
From NEW DELHI to KUALA LUMPUR.
KL can be visited anytime during the year, as the climate is suitable throughout.
