My presentation for World Wildlife Fund.

2.  Founded in 1961 in Morges, Switzerland
 Founders are: Bernhard of Lippe-Biesterfeld, Julian
Huxley, Max Nicholson, Peter Scott, Guy Mountfort, and
Godfrey A. Rockefeller
 There was a meeting called the Morges Manifesto held
by 16 of the most prominent environmentalists in the
world
 They agreed that there was not enough support
financially to help protect the environment
 They decided to make World Wildlife Fund (WWF) as a
worldwide fundraiser to bring in money to protect the
environment, but also to work with other preservations
and environmentalists to do more

3.  World Wildlife Fund’s goal is to preserve the
diversity of nature, especially animals
 They want to restore species that are
becoming extinct and bring them back to
living in the wild in their natural habitat
 They want to find a balance between humans
needing and using resources and animals
using resources
 WWF says that we should share our resources,
and in the future should be able to “live in
harmony with nature”

4.  The giant pandas have increased 17% in the
past decade and 27 new panda reserves have
been established
 The sea turtle population had gone form
being endangered to only being a threatened
species due to more protected areas on
beaches for breeding
 Sea lion's injuries have gone down due to new
floating bases for them, so they don’t get
caught in barbed wire on fishing boats

5.  Actor, Leonardo DiCaprio is a partner to WWF, but also a
huge environmentalist
 The big project he has supported is “Save the Tigers Now”
 This campaign is to raise awareness and support to save
tigers in the wild
 One of the main goals of this campaign was to double the
amount of wild tigers in Nepal by 2022
 DiCaprio and his foundation donated three million dollars
to this campaign which helped Nepal to have better anti-
poaching patrols, protect areas for breeding, and restore
areas specifically for tigers
 This helped the tiger’s growth immensely
 In one park in Nepal alone, the population of tigers went
up from 18 to 50.

6.  The WWF logo was inspired by a giant panda
at the London Zoo in 1961named Chi-Chi
 They chose a panda because it was a
recognizable symbol for all people around the
world
 Sir Peter Scott drew the first logo
 The logo has changed some over the years,
but the panda logo still remains today as a
symbol of nature conservation

7.  You can donate to WFF by donating money to the
cause at www.worldwildlife.org
 You can also symbolically adopt an animal which
helps you have a personal connection to your
favorite animal while financially helping WWF
 Or donate your time by traveling with WWF
 This is a program that allows you to fully see and
experience the most urgent conservation
challenges in the world
