- 5. First you must have a “Flight Sim” on your PC
- 6. Not this one Yes, this one for your personal computer in home
- 7. Wow, great! Yes I know. It must be new software letting us to fly my plane at home
- 8. The answer is No.
- 9. subLogic Flight Simulator first appeared on AppleII in 1980 Flight Simulator at that time was running on Steve Jobs computers!
- 10. Companies create their own flight sim games for various platform like IBM PC…Texas Instruments… Atari after the success of that one on APPLE II
- 11. Finally Microsoft acquired Flight Simulator and said BYE BYE to Steve Jobs. Running on DOS makes it more popular and affordable
- 12. Flight Simulator 5.0 became the first “flyable” Flight Sim which was published in 1993
- 13. The first Flight Simulator capable for VATSIM was Flight Simulator 2000
- 14. And the latest one Flight Simulator X - FSX
- 15. So why didn’t I hear any people flying their plane at home since 28 years ago?
- 16. Because we always want something real !
- 17. At that time we have no such flight simulations like today:
- 20. No wonderful flight deck
- 22. Not all system simulated
- 23. Not even usable flight computer

- 34. VATSIMis a global user community established in 2001 VATSIM Hong Kong
- 35. So where is VATSIM Hong Kong? We do have our own site for Hong Kong VATSIM Hong Kong
- 36. VASTIM Hong Kong was established in 2003 and was managed by local people
- 37. We are responsible for planes flying within Hong Kong FIR according to real world regulations:1. ICAO Annex 4444 2. AIP Hong Kong
- 39. So how can we provide ATC services?
- 40. This is our Virtual Radar Client, our radar screen
- 41. Not just Flight Sim, ATC also as real as it gets !

- 49. Rain, cloud and strong wind …. Really bad weather… but it could not stop cargo planes flying
- 50. Then how can I know where ATCs and pilots are?

- 52. But of course you can check it on your computer - Serverinfo
- 53. With more detail info about ATC control area
- 54. Your flight will share onto internet like flightaware.com
- 55. And your flight log!
- 56. So besides “As real as it gets”, what can VATSIM do?
- 57. World Flight starts in 2001, Flying Around the world NONSTOP every year on VATSIM Raising Money for different Charity Groups
- 58. With 9 different teams around the world If we just count Australia… AUS$ 140,000 were raised for Flying Doctors
- 59. And how about flying to Hong Kong ? They visit us every year
- 61. And we’re planning to have World Flight HK charity team in 2010
- 62. So how can I join VATSIM?
