The Great Sandy Desert is hot
and mostly dry. Very little rain
falls there.

Some animal that live the Great
   Sandy Desert are
   lizards, goannas and red kangaroo
but most of them are endangered
   because of animals such as
foxes, feral and cats that also
   live in the desert.
Thar Desert is the world's
seventh largest Deserts.

The Thar Desert is located in
parts of India and Pakistan and
is known as the Great Indian
       Desert. In the winter,
       temperatures fall below
       freezing, and in the summer,
       temperatures can reach to more
       than 125 degrees °Fahrenheit.
The Taklimakan Desert is
in China it is the largest,
driest, and warmest
desert in China.

Did you Know the Taklimakan Desert covers
an area of 270,000 km and 21,000 km long
                      and 400 km wide.
The Gibson Desert is a desert made
up of sand hills and dry grass. The
desert is about 155,000 square
kilometres (60,000 square miles) in
size.

The Gibson Desert is located in
                        the central east rangelands of
                        Western Australia.
The Simpson Desert is a hot and
dry desert.

                     Occupying almost 200,000 square
                     kilometres of central
                     Australia, mostly in the Northern
                     Territory's south-east but also in
                     parts of South Australia and
Queensland. Rainfall is less than 400
                     millimetres per year.
Some of
the plants
that live
in the
Desert Green Kangaroo Paw
are: Popcorn Flower
          Barrel Cactus
          Triangle-leaf Bursage
          Soaptree Yucca
          Saguaro Cactus
          Pancake Prickly Pear
          Palo Verde
          Ocotillo
          Mojave Aster
          Jumping Cholla
          Joshua Tree
          Desert Ironwood
          Crimson Hedgehog Cactus
          Creosote Bush
          Chain Fruit Cholla
          Brittle Bush
The stem and the bases of the flower
is usually deep red and covered with
hairs. The colour then changes to a
nice green. For most of the length of
the flower which splits open to show
a smooth pale green inside.
Popcorn flowers are small and white. They
bloom from February through June. They can
also by small as 2 inches and can go up to 10
inches tall. The flowers open starting from
the bottom of the plant moving to the top.
This causes the stem to uncoil.
The barrel cactus can be found in
Arizona, California, Texas and Central FreeImages.co.uk/
Mexico. It grows in the desert. It is one
of the largest cactus of the North
American Deserts.
The Triangle-leaf Bursage
is a member of the
Sunflower Family. It is
also one of the most
important as it acts a
"nurse" plant from young
cactus that grow in its
shade.

It grows to 2' in height but
most specimens in this area
are less than 1.
The Soaptree Yucca is a abundant
evergreen, palm-like shrub or small
tree growing 10 to 18 feet high. The
gray trunk with a diameter of 6 to 12
inches is slightly furrowed below and
covered with dead leaves at the top.
It is usually unbranched and has very
long, narrow leaves.
Some of the
animal in the
Desert are :

Horned Lizard
Spotted Hyena
Ostrich
Meerkat
Kangaroo Rat
Roadrunner
Geko
Desert Toad
Texas Horned
Horned lizard are lizards that
look like short little animals
with there thin short tails and
short neck and legs, there have
spines on the head, sides, and
back. Horned lizards are colored
for protection from other
animals.
The spotted hyena is the
largest and most common
hyena. Other members of
the Hyaenidae family are
the striped hyena, brown
hyena and aardwolf.

The spotted hyena look like
a fierce animal with its big
bony front legs and it coat
with its off-white
backround colour with dark
brown spots.
The ostrich is the world's largest bird.
Ostrich cannot fly. They live in the
desert. Because they live in the desert
they get most of their water from the
plants they eat.
Meerkat are often seen in
groups, and several families may
live together in a large community.

They often stand on their rear legs
and gaze alertly over the southern
African plains where they live.
Meerkats work together in numbers.
A few will typically serve as
lookouts.
Kangaroo rat are small mouselike
animal living in the desert. There
are about 20 kangaroo rat
species.

Kangaroo rats have large, heads
with big eyes, and fur-lined cheek
