1. 6.4
My intended audience for my documentary is 16-19 year old heterosexual
male college students who live in London. I chose this target audience
because the prominent figure in my documentary is an 18-year-old male who
goes to college in London.
The
style
of
my
documentary
is
fly
on
the
wall,
I
met
with
Nathan
and
did
various
activities
together
such
as
taking
one
of
his
friends
baby’s
to
he
park
and
swimming,
this
to
show
the
audience
how
comfortable
Nathan
is
around
baby’s
and
how
his
confidence
grows
throughout
the
documentary.
This
appealed
to
my
target
audience
as
it
showed
Nathans
genuine
reaction
to
the
situations
he
was
put
in,
such
as
changing
a
nappy
for
the
first
time.
I
would
then
interview
him
afterwards
and
ask
him
questions
about
what
just
happened.
When
I
showed
my
Media
class
one
response
I
got
was
“My
favourite
part
of
the
documentary
was
when
Nathan
changed
Lily’s
nappy
for
the
first
time,
his
face
when
he
saw
what
was
inside
was
funny”.
I
think
the
main
reason
my
documentary
appeals
to
this
audience
is
because
of
the
prominent
figure
in
the
documentary
(Nathan),
he
is
featured
throughout
the
documentary
and
is
very
relevant
to
the
target
audience
as
he
is
an
18
year
old
male
who
is
attending
college
in
London,
I
think
because
of
this
the
audience
will
be
able
to
relate
to
Nathan
and
feel
empathetic
towards
him.
This
is
the
main
interview
with
Nathan
where
he
introduces
himself
and
tells
the
audience
about
himself
and
his
situation.
I
used
this
interview
as
a
way
for
the
audience
to
understand
Nathan
and
his
story
and
also
as
a
way
for
the
audience
to
get
to
know
him.
As
I
have
expressed
above
I
wanted
to
introduce
Nathan
and
show
him
to
the
audience
at
the
very
beginning
of
the
documentary
because
I
felt
the
audience
would
take
an
immediate
liking
to
him,
making
them
want
to
carry
on
watching
the
documentary
through
to
the
end
to
find
out
the
outcome.
My
media
teacher
told
me
after
watching
the
documentary
“Nathan
has
a
clear
likability
factor
and
the
target
audience
will
want
to
see
him
do
well
straight
away”
2.
The
mode
of
address
of
my
documentary
is
informal,
I
used
this
mode
of
address
because
I
felt
young
people
would
be
more
interested
and
entertained
in
watching
a
documentary
with
a
less
serious
feel
to
it,
even
though
the
topic
is
a
serious
and
sensitive
subject.
Using
Nathans
room
as
a
location
also
showed
an
informal
mode
of
address
as
we
didn’t
tidy
it
or
alter
it
in
any
way
it
resembles
an
average
teenage
boys
room.
In
the
image
above
we
can
clearly
see
that
the
lighting
in
this
interview
is
of
a
good
standard
and
the
framing
is
shot
reasonably
well.
When
I
asked
my
class
what
they
thought
about
the
framing
and
lighting
in
my
questionnaire
one
reply
was
“
There
are
a
lot
of
things
in
the
shot,
the
desk
looks
cluttered
and
there
are
a
lot
of
hats
as
well”
I
agree
with
this
statement
and
if
I
was
to
do
a
re-‐shoot
I
would
move
some
smaller
things
off
of
the
desk
behind
him,
for
example,
the
heater
and
some
of
the
hats.
Another
person
in
my
class
said,
“
The
TV
is
reflected
in
the
window
behind
him
and
is
playing
a
show,
this
was
quite
distracting
when
watching
the
interview”.
This
was
something
I
didn’t
pick
up
on
until
I
started
editing
the
interview
and
by
that
point
I
didn’t
have
time
to
do
a
re-‐shoot.
I
think
this
doesn’t
help
the
documentary
appeal
to
the
target
audience
at
all
and
I
would
defiantly
remove
this
if
I
could.
The
music
I
included
in
the
documentary
was
upbeat
and
as
my
documentary
skipped
months
I
had
to
use
text
and
transitions
to
show
the
date
of
each
interview,
it
helped
make
these
transitions
less
boring
and
repetitive
for
the
audience.
This
is
an
example
of
the
one
of
the
transitions,
as
it
is
quite
bland
it
isn’t
very
attractive
to
my
target
audience,
however,
with
the
upbeat
music
I
have
included
in
the
transitions
it
makes
it
less
dull
and
keeps
the
documentary
moving
from
3. one
interview
to
the
next.
The
sound
quality
in
my
documentary
is
also
of
a
good
quality
as
I
used
a
Nikon
DSLR
camera
to
film
and
record
sound.
I
recorded
my
voice
over
using
the
final
cut
express
therefore
the
quality
is
also
of
a
good
standard.
Nathan
(the
prominent
figure
in
my
documentary)
told
me
after
watching
the
documentary
“
I
think
the
choice
of
music
is
good
and
lets
the
documentary
flow
together
better”.
The
majority
of
my
documentary
involves
interviews
with
either
Nathan
or
a
family
member
and
because
of
this
it
was
difficult
to
keep
the
intended
audience
interested
by
just
using
interviews,
therefore
I
decided
to
use
cutaways
throughout
all
the
interviews
and
use
a
lot
of
the
interview
as
just
a
voice
over
to
give
the
audience
a
more
aesthetically
pleasing
visual.
At
one
point
Nathan
is
talking
about
is
hobbies
and
what
he
enjoys
doing,
and
one
of
these
was
free
running,
because
of
this
I
thought
that
instead
of
just
watching
him
talking
about
Free
running
I
could
find
a
video
of
him
free
running
and
include
it
into
the
interview.
This
is
a
print
screen
of
the
cutaway
I
used
in
the
interview
of
Nathan
free
running.
Free
running
is
an
up
and
coming
sport
and
has
had
a
lot
of
media
attention
on
Channel
4
and
BBC
3
which
as
channels
that
target
a
similar
audience
to
my
documentary
therefore
it
is
appealing
to
the
audience
and
keeps
them
interested
in
the
documentary
whilst
staying
on
topic
with
the
documentary
as
Nathan
is
speaking
over
it.
A
student
in
my
media
class
said
“
I
also
do
Free
running
in
my
spare
time
and
seeing
it
in
the
documentary
was
great
because
me
and
Nathan
have
something
in
common”
All
of
the
footage
I
used
was
original
a
part
from
the
cutaway
of
Nathan
Free
running
which
I
found
on
YouTube
and
the
montage
of
pictures
used
in
the
very
beginning
of
the
documentary
where
Nathan
is
shown
with
his
partner
which
I
found
of
Face
book.
Using
original
footage
took
a
lot
longer
to
film
and
edit
than
it
would
have
if
I
had
used
achieve
footage
for
the
whole
documentary
as
I
would
have
to
do
minimal
editing,
however,
I
would
not
have
been
able
to
tell
Nathans
4. story
as
well
as
I
have
done.
I
used
the
fade
in/fade
out
effect
a
lot
to
help
link
all
the
different
footage
of
the
interviews
together.
I
used
a
range
of
different
shot
types
and
different
camera
skills
to
film
the
documentary,
such
as
panning
the
camera
when
in
one
cutaway
when
Nathan
is
skateboarding.
My
media
teacher
told
me
“To
improve
the
documentary,
more
shot
types
could
have
been
used
in
the
interviews
to
show
a
wider
range,
maybe
use
two
cameras
to
film
the
interview”
I
agree
with
this
feedback
and
I
think
if
all
the
interviews
had
more
cross
cutting
it
would
be
more
interesting,
however,
I
think
the
amount
of
cutaways
I
used
make
up
for
this.
This
is
an
example
of
my
use
of
shot
types
where
I
was
panning
the
camera
to
show
Nathan
Skateboarding
a
long
a
road;
I
used
this
as
a
cutaway.
Overall
I
think
I
have
succeeded
in
making
my
documentary
appeal
to
the
target
audience,
Nathan
is
good
on
camera
and
appeals
to
the
target
audience
well,
and
the
topic
of
the
documentary
is
also
very
relevant
to
the
target
audience
and
their
day-‐to-‐day
life.
The
way
I
edited
the
interviews,
the
cutaways
and
the
music
all
allow
the
documentary
to
become
a
story
that
is
being
told.
If
I
could
make
this
documentary
again
I
would
use
less
interviews
and
try
to
get
more
footage
of
Nathan
in
day
to
day
life
as
I
think
this
would
appeal
to
the
audience
as
it
would
show
them
what
he
is
like
with
his
friends,
family
and
at
school
giving
them
more
to
relate
to
and
use
more
locations,
I
would
also
try
to
remove
the
amount
of
transitions
between
interviews
as
a
lot
of
the
time
a
black
screen
with
text
was
shown
which
is
not
very
aesthetically
pleasing.
The
technical
quality
of
my
documentary
is
satisfactory.
There
are
some
areas
for
improvement
such
as
when
the
TV
is
shown
in
the
window
in
the
main
interview
and
some
of
the
cutaways
do
not
have
a
steady
shot,
however,
I
think
the
way
the
documentary
is
edited
and
the
sound
quality
is
good.
My
intention
was
to
show
the
audience
another
side
of
young
dads
to
what
I
have
seen
in
the
media,
which
is
very
negative
about
young
dads
in
London
and
especially
black
young
dads
in
London.
I
think
I
have
shown
another
side
to
young
dads
which
is
that
they
are
the
same
as
everybody
else
and
some
(like
Nathan)
do
step
up
to
their
responsibilities.
I
have
also
shown
the
difficulties
of
5. being
a
young
father
through
Nathan,
such
as
when
he
was
arguing
with
his
girlfriend
and
keeping
up
with
school
work.
