2. Photograph:
Using a camera to capture an
image for reproduction

3. -Film: uses film negatives that must be processed in chemicals
-Digital: uses digital image capture medium such as compact flash, SD card,
computer software

4. Composition:
The framing of the photo subject
within the camera screen.

5. Aperture: Determines how much or little light is exposed to the camera recording
medium. The larger the opening, the more light. The smaller the opening, the less
light. Opening is called f-stops.

6. Shutter: Determines how long the
camera recording medium is
exposed to light.

7. Flash/Speedlight: forms of additional lighting devices used
with a camera.

8. Exposure: the proper combination of aperture (amount of
light) and shutter speed (amount of time recording medium is
exposed to light) to create appropriately exposed image.

9. Camera format: size of camera
recording medium.
Large format: used for
photographing images to be
used for extremely large size
photographs (e.g., murals,
large canvas)
Small format: used for general
photography
