Field where you will connect with the scheduled flight to Kilimanjaro Airport in Tanzania. After clearing
customs you will be met by your Tanzanian guide and depart for Sinya, a 55,000 acre private wildlife
conservancy located on the west side of Mt. Kilimanjaro. This is Maasai land, the arid land of Sinya, one of the
few areas in Africa where huge bull elephants more than 50 years old, carrying tusks of considerable size, are
regularly seen. Some of these bulls live permanently in the area and others migrate, together with herds of
mothers and calves, from the bordering Amboseli National Park in Kenya.
The Maasai in Sinya still live in the traditional way. They are very friendly and less exposed to the commercial
relationship with tourists that is common in other more visited areas. The land is leased from several local
tribes, so your stay here helps preserve the area for the wildlife and generates funds for schools and other
needs. You will have opportunities to be led on Maasai guided wildlife walks and visit their bomas.
While at Sinya you’ll spend two nights at Kambi ya Tembo, a small luxury tented camp with exclusive use of
the conservancy. Each of the 20 luxury thatch roofed tents has full en-suite bathrooms and a private verandah.
The dining room, bar and lounge are housed in a dramatic thatched roofed structure with a spectacular view of
the conservancy.
Activities while at Kambi ya Tembo include game drives and walking safaris escorted by Maasai trackers. If it
happens to be a Tuesday, you can visit the weekly market where the Maasai gather to trade and visit with each
other. This afternoon, depart on a game drive, returning in time to freshen up before drinks around the camp
fire and dinner.

DAY 7 - TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
Today you continue south down the Great Rift Valley to Tarangire National Park, Tanzania’s third largest.
Here you’ll find a diverse geologic landscape, with nine distinct vegetation zones. Ancient Baobab trees dot
the landscape dwarfing the animals that feed beneath them. The Tarangire River which meanders through the
park attracts an abundance of wildlife, from elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, zebra, giraffe and numerous
antelope to a variety of colorful birds. During the dry season thousands of elephants gather in the area.
Your accommodations for the next two nights will be at Kikoti Tented Camp. The 18 guest “tents” are built
from natural materials in tune with their environment. Water is tanked in on a weekly basis as there is no
natural supply by the camp but hot water is available and the lights run from solar power.
There are touches of local craftsmanship everywhere, the woven rugs, the bed frames made from apple wood
and African ebony found outside Tarangire National Park and thatched roofs. The beds are comfortable,
perfect to sink into after a long day’s safari. Alternatively, you can sit out on your private veranda, in one of
3. the wicker chairs and watch the world pass by. Night game drives and walks escorted by Maasai trackers, are
also available in the private area outside the park.
After lunch, depart on a game drive in the park, returning before dark with time to freshen up and have a drink
around the fire before dinner.

“endless plains” in Kiswahili and this 6,900 sq. mile (18,000 sq. km) park is inhabited by more than 2 million
large animals including more than a million wildebeest, hundreds of thousands of plains zebras, and
