communicated with you.
10. SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING
Stage 4:
Clients are people you’ve
connected with and qualified as
ready, willing, and able to use your
“product”. These people have
committed to working with you.

4 stages – Strangers > Followers > Connected > Qualify to ConvertSocial Media is really just “tools”Strangers:Shared Network AdvertisingSearch EnginesInbound Marketing
Followers:Some may have identified themselves. Followers are not yet qualified Followers have never communicated with you.Registrations don’t necessarily qualify followers or count as communication.KEY THOUGHT: Strangers are not going to make themselves available to you. You need to make yourself available to them through your online content.
The Connect Stage is your first opportunity to qualify someone.Registrations don’t count as personal interaction or two-way conversation.Connected can be online, phone, or in person. You’re still not connected even if you initiated the contact and they did not respond. To be connected, the follower must respond. Likewise, if they initiated the conversation, you must respond before being connected. If you don’t, you’ll loose the opportunity.**Extremely important stage for lead conversion.
Lead Conversion is more than just converting people as soon as you meet them. Some clients won’t convert until months or years after you’ve met them. Have a plan to incubate leads for all timing scenarios. Let them know you are there to help regardless of timing. Have a plan to stay fresh on their minds if they’re not ready to buy/convert.
BuddyPress is a plugin that turns your site into a social networking community.
BuddyPress was conceived in 2008 while working to add social networking features to a WordPress MU powered site. The first official stable release was in May 2009. The platform has grown and morphed considerably since then, into the dynamic, easily extensible package you see today.
How do BP Activity Streams augment the social experience? BuddyPress activity streams are similar to the streams you find on LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter – You can choose to view global, personal and group streams
Generate traffic, engage with community, establish credibility,
Facebook is successful but also very general. Larger built-in audience to make your marketing spread faster.BuddyPress will help you filter out a more focused, committed community. Branded to you, not Facebook. They registered. They come frequently, participate. Why are people coming to your site? Support? Industry specific community information? Non-profit? Political campaign? Education? Religious group?
In short, the answer is “no.” BuddyPress gives you the ability to create your own community that you control. Unlike Facebook Groups/Communities and LinkedIn Groups, you own the data and truly control what your users see. We recommend using social media networks to help grow your BuddyPress Community. Find people on Twitter who are talking about your niche topic, and point them to your community. Do the same for Facebook and LinkedIn groups. You can also post links from your most popular content on your BuddyPress Community back to your other social networks to build buzz.

Unique social functionality: They cater to the savvy, modern woman and help inform women about new products, recipes, clothes, and just about anything else. Account holders can create their own blog posts of things they love.
Instead of just using a drop down where they list “Member Directory” “Activity Stream” “Forum” “Groups” – they have a splash page that describes what all those functions are. Great idea if you are worries people might not understand the default language of BuddyPress.
http://100.jrn.msu.edu/Michigan State Univ. School of Journalism uses BuddyPress as a means of connecting their alumni and students into groups and friends.
They have utilized the extended profiles in a unique way. They capture social media links to help form deeper social connections among their alumni and current students.
http://www.kevjumba.com/KevJumba has a popular youtube channel. He still maintains his youtube channel but he also hosts his videos on his own site as well and uses BuddyPress to manage his community.
He sets the stage for his forum by creating 8 main categories to get his users started with forum ideas.
Irrationalgames.comIrrational Games is an award-winning video game developer. They use both wordpress and buddypress for their site. They also have a community with a blog and a forum. They created the BioShock series.
Irrational Games take advantage of specialty plugins to allow for achievements by their users.
Not all WordPress plugins play nice with BuddyPress. The problems that might occur are javascript conflicts, which breaks the Ajax functionality for BuddyPress (usually lightbox plugins or sliders), or caching/performance plugins that prevent the Activity Stream from working properly.Plugins which add widgets or improves/extend general WordPress functions have a high chance of working on your BP site. Always take the time to test a plugin on a test site or local site and make sure nothing goes haywire. If you use plugins which embed jQuery by default, see if you can disable it, because BuddyPress loads it by default.BuddyPress Themes also exist – just bc you install a BP theme doesn't’t mean you don’t have to also still install the BP plugin.
Add support for BuddyPress to your existing WordPress theme. This plugin will guide you through the process step by step. Once you are finished, your existing WordPress theme will be able to manage and display all BuddyPress pages and content. The process is completely reversible and does not modify any of your existing template files.
Paul Gibbs is the author. The plugin does not come with any pre-built achievements; you have to create each achievement, supplying its name, description, picture and other information. One of the most important settings is each achievement’s action. This is an optional field, and an example of an action is “[a user writes] a comment on a post.”In this example, the achievement would be unlocked automatically once a user writes a comment on a post. If no action is set, then the achievement acts as a badge which requires an admin to award it to a user manually.
