Dear Mr. Kumar,
I have been the Latin America Regional Sales Director for Boeing Business Jets
since 1998. I worked closely with the Commerce Department of the U.S.
Embassy in Santiago, Chile, to promote our VIP aircraft to the Chilean Air Force
and private corporations.
In 2006, during one of my many visits to Santiago, I met Ms. Barquin who had
just joined the Commerce Department of the U.S. Embassy. She immediately
became interested in Boeing Business Jets activities with the Chilean Air Force,
in particular the purchase of a wide-body VIP aircraft for the Government. Her
excellent judgment and her outstanding business knowledge always advanced the
cause of the U.S. industry and business.
I have since experienced Ms. Barquin’s clear vision and commitment to
promoting U.S. industries in Chile. Her dedication, honesty and work ethic were
decisive to our success at the FIDAE 2010 Airshow. She ensured the visit of
senior commanding officers of the Chilean Air Force to our booth and static
display; ensured we had the proper media coverage; personally organized our
meetings with the Air Force Commander, the Air Force Chief of Joint Staff, as
well as private meetings with the U.S. Ambassador prior and after the show to
evaluate results. Never before had we so much success at the FIDAE Show.
It has been for me a great pleasure and honor working with Ms. Barquin
especially during her 2009-2010 performance rating period. Her high standards
of personal integrity, professional excellence, mutual respect, creativity and
individual initiative in promoting U.S. interests in Chile cannot be
underestimated.
