2. What is Project Gutenberg?
• Online catalog of books in the public domain,
so older classics (and some not so classic)
• Founded in 1971, it is the oldest digital library
• Over 34,000 items in its catalog.
• Freely available to download to eReaders or
for audiobooks to MP3 players/iPods/etc.

3. 1) Start at Wake County Public Libraries homepage,
www.wakegov.com/libraries. Select link “Download Library”.
4. 2) Click “Other Digital Media” and then select the “Project
Gutenberg eBook & eAudio” link.
5. 3) We’ll do a search for A Tale of Two Cities. Enter search
term & select “Go”.
6. 4) Select the audio version of the book. (Tip: Speaker icon
indicates audiobook)
7. 5) To download, right click on MP3 Audio, and select “Save
Link As…” (Tip: If using Internet Explorer, select “Save Target As…”)
8. 6) Select location to save book. We will create an
“Audiobooks” folder in My Documents.
9. 7) Since audiobooks are divided into many parts, it is
beneficial to create a folder to store all parts of an
individual book.
10. 8) Select “Save”. (Tip: Be careful changing file name to ensure
parts remain in same order)
11. 9) Save as many parts of the book as you would like to
download.
12. 10)To install on MP3 Player: Connect MP3 player to
computer & open.
13. 11)Drag folder containing all parts of audiobook into MP3
player. Once finished downloading, ready to listen.
14. 12)To install on iPod: Open iTunes & the folder containing
all parts of the audiobook.
15. 13)Select all parts (hold Ctrl key while selecting). Grab
selected files and drag to “Music” under LIBRARY.
