Bella T. Wong Bulletin #37
Superintendent of Schools June 17, 2011
The Superintendent’s Bulletin is posted weekly on Fridays on our website. It provides timely, relevant
information about meetings, professional development opportunities, curriculum and program development,
grant awards, and School Committee news. The bulletin is also the official vehicle for job postings. Please
read the bulletin regularly and use it to inform colleagues of meetings and other school news.
HAPPY SUMMER!!!!!
Dear Colleagues,
Contrary to prior years, we have had an unprecedented number of snow days causing our last day
to be more delayed than in the past. But in some ways it has made the last days feel more
reasonably paced. Can you imagine if school had ended on Tuesday? Well, ok, maybe you
could.
The Annual District Goals Report was presented to School Committee Tuesday night and is now
posted on our website for you to view. There were 35 District-wide goals this year, and the report
is summative of the work done across the District. Highlights of the report include the
achievement gap, technology, RTI, the Middle School project, the High School project and the
budget. I believe it has been an extraordinary year.
I also had the privilege to observe several wonderful end-of-year assemblies and retirement
recognitions in these last weeks. I was moved by the many heartfelt expressions of love and
respect for one another and parting colleagues.
So another year has drawn to an end, and I hope you think it was a good year for you and your
students. I continue to be as proud as ever of your enduring commitment to the quality of your
work and the passion that you bring to it.
I hope all goes well for close of school. Enjoy the summer!
