Commercial Natural Gas Vehicles (C-NGV) Market
Forecast 2014-2024: Prospects for Top Companies
with LNG & CNG Trucks, Vans, Buses & Coaches
The NGV market is volatile and sales fluctuated a lot between 2010 and 2013 as seen in Table 3.8.
In detail, the global sales of NGV recorded a drop of 63.8% between 2012 and 2013 mainly due to
the rise of another major AFV segment, the electric vehicles which also offer significant fuel and
emission advantages over standard-fuelled vehicles.
The current market status of both NGV and Commercial NGV is thoroughly presented in Chapter2.

NGV total Sales for the period 2010-2013 respectively we assess that NGV total Sales accounted
for 1.17% of the total Vehicle Sales in 2013, down from 1.67% in 2010.

6.1.1 Cummins Westport’s Role in the Commercial NGV Market
In the Commercial NGV space, Cummins Westport designs and manufactures purpose-built
engines to run on natural gas and supplies OEMs around the world. The company produced its
first natural gas heavy-duty engine in 1991 and continues to develop clean, leading-edge natural

some cases the OEM will also install the natural gas (CNG or LNG) vehicle fuel storage system.
The fuel system can also be installed on the vehicle at a different location, such as a truck-body
builder (i.e. refuse), as the vehicle is being configured to the customer's specifications.
In 2013, Westport launched the Westport iCE PACK
™
LNG Tank System; completed the
acquisition of BAF Technologies, Inc. (BAF) and its subsidiary, ServoTech Engineering, Inc.
