FSD Kenya, June 2011 to Date;
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Responsible for identifying opportunities for financial market development.
• I take lead in developing and managing a portfolio of projects under the formal
financial system theme area.
• Manage the dissemination of results from projects to maximize impact
• Manage resources required to implement projects
• Participate in effective management of wider FSD program
• In charge of Marketing FSD Kenya’s program to high potential partners across the
private sector, non-profit institutions and government
• Develop appropriate project investment packages to support (including co-
financing arrangements where required) and prepare project appraisal reports for
presentation to FSD’s program investment committee

• Delivered project Badilisha which sought to integrate the card business in Africa
i.e. acquiring, issuing, & processing in Kenya for 34 countries plus create four
service centres in Africa.
• Created a regional processing centre in Kenya, created processing centres in
Seychelles, Mauritius & Botswana.
• Took over AMEX business in nine countries & integrated AMEX into Barclaycard
international.
• Delivered KYC STM reports format enhancement project for all countries using
brains in Barclays Africa.
• Delivered remote FOS authorization and Desk Top Renewal Project one of the
largest it projects in Barclays Kenya history.

• As Team Leader I was responsible for managing a Team of (22) Relationship
Managers who were located across the country.
• I spearheaded the Business Development i.e. Budgets were agreed at the
beginning of the year and I managed Revenues, Costs, Risks, People and all other
issues that related to the business in an efficient manner.
• Provided Business Banking and covered all relationships country wide borrowing
between KSh 5 Million and KSh 400 Million.
• Achieved & exceeded budget both on Income and costs and within line on risk
parameters.
Head of Marketing (Branch Manager-Mombasa);
Citibank NA Kenya, October 2001 to March 2002;
Duties and Responsibilities:
• In October 2001 Citibank Kenya acquired the local business of Abn-Amro and I
was requested to take on the challenging task of integrating the two branches and
in the end closing the Citibank NA Mombasa branch that was in rented premises
and moving it to the newly acquired Abn-Amro building renamed Citibank NA
Mombasa.
• The role was very challenging especially dealing with a cultural shift from the
way Abn-Amro used to do business, but I accomplished with minimum
headcount and resolved all operational issues during integration and achieved
this with no loss of a major account.
