TELT Production Approach
1. Rationale for TELT new production approach
TELT – Technology Enhanced Learning and Teaching, commonly refers to the resources in the “Using Technology
in Learning and Teaching” learning room. Presently they cover the following areas:
 Introduction to technology enhanced learning and teaching
 Eassessment, Esubmission and Efeedback
 Delivery online content
Currently all the elearning areas within the resources have a similar format “what, why when how” to enable easy
navigation through the resources, however, this creates a long linear structure within the content map in NOW,
which defeats the intention of ease of navigation. To address this issue a redesign of the structure of the resources
is required to improve their usability.
In addition, the elearning development team needs to consider a more agile approach to creating TELT online
resources so that it can quickly address any strategic needs that arise and can fill in the existing gaps. The present
project board process was necessary to implement the development of the existing TELT resources, however, it is
a barrier to adopting and agile production approach and we need to consider a SMART approach to TELT
production. For each resource, we should consider.
Specific goal:
 What do we need to accomplish with the resource
 What are the reasons, purpose and benefits of creating the resource
 Who will be involved in the creation of the resource
 Where will the resource go
 What will be its format; the structure of the resource what it will not cover
Measurable:
 Process for producing the resource, stages and the length of time
Attainable
 Do we need to speak to other departments
 Do we have enough knowledge
 Will any of the above impact on the delivery
 Are there any other guides it links to or do other guides need to be created
Relevant
 Does it address a strategic need
 Does it fill a learning and teaching gap
 Does the output match the effort
Time-bound
 Delivery date
 Does it have to be delivered all at once or can it be separated into parts
2. Management of the TELT process and identifying new resources
The management of the TELT process will remain within CADQ. It is suggested that the ED team review the
existing resources and firstly consider any gaps with respect to:
 Curriculum redesign
 Strategic issues
Then applying the SMART approach outlined above a development plan will be overseen by the SEDs. Any new
suggestions that arise will be evaluated using the SMART approach and will be considered within the context of
existing resources that are in the production plan.

3. Roles and Responsibilities
The following provides an overview with respect to role and responsibilities for TELT resource production.
3. Resource format and location
There are two influences on the format of TELT resources that both relate to time, time it takes to produce a
resource and limited time of learning teaching staff have to access and use the resource, therefore resources
should be clear, concise and easy to find. It is recommended that we adopt the following format:
1. Overview: what, why and references to additional guidance – PDF no more than two sides
2. Additional guidance – PDF Userguide only
3. Learning and teaching case studies – video & PDF
With 2, CPLD may need to produce guidance, however, the guidance may already exist or additional guidance may
not be necessary. With 3 there may not be any teaching case studies to attach, depending on the resource that is
created. It is suggested, that there should not be cross reference to specific points in related guides within the
overview but links to related guides at the bottom of the overview, this will facilitated easier repurposing and
updating. The resource should then go into the “Using Technology in Learning and Teaching” learning room and
the NTU learning repository. Presently, the ENO project is investigating making resources accessible with a URL
outside of NTU within the learning repository so when this is enabled it is suggested the TELT published resources
are made open using this method, so that they can be linked to from multiple places.

The following is a production workflow for the a TELT resource

The following gives the standard timeline for a production schedule for a TELT resource. It is in two parts, the first
part is the overview and guidance, the second is the case study.

6. TELT Evaluation
With respect to evaluating the TELT resources using the learning room it is recommended that we do the following:

 Contact those using resources for feedback – telephone interview/face-to-face

  • 1. TELT Production Approach 1. Rationale for TELT new production approach TELT – Technology Enhanced Learning and Teaching, commonly refers to the resources in the “Using Technology in Learning and Teaching” learning room. Presently they cover the following areas:  Introduction to technology enhanced learning and teaching  Eassessment, Esubmission and Efeedback  Delivery online content Currently all the elearning areas within the resources have a similar format “what, why when how” to enable easy navigation through the resources, however, this creates a long linear structure within the content map in NOW, which defeats the intention of ease of navigation. To address this issue a redesign of the structure of the resources is required to improve their usability. In addition, the elearning development team needs to consider a more agile approach to creating TELT online resources so that it can quickly address any strategic needs that arise and can fill in the existing gaps. The present project board process was necessary to implement the development of the existing TELT resources, however, it is a barrier to adopting and agile production approach and we need to consider a SMART approach to TELT production. For each resource, we should consider. Specific goal:  What do we need to accomplish with the resource  What are the reasons, purpose and benefits of creating the resource  Who will be involved in the creation of the resource  Where will the resource go  What will be its format; the structure of the resource what it will not cover Measurable:  Process for producing the resource, stages and the length of time Attainable  Do we need to speak to other departments  Do we have enough knowledge  Will any of the above impact on the delivery  Are there any other guides it links to or do other guides need to be created Relevant  Does it address a strategic need  Does it fill a learning and teaching gap  Does the output match the effort Time-bound  Delivery date  Does it have to be delivered all at once or can it be separated into parts 2. Management of the TELT process and identifying new resources The management of the TELT process will remain within CADQ. It is suggested that the ED team review the existing resources and firstly consider any gaps with respect to:  Curriculum redesign  Strategic issues Then applying the SMART approach outlined above a development plan will be overseen by the SEDs. Any new suggestions that arise will be evaluated using the SMART approach and will be considered within the context of existing resources that are in the production plan.   • 2. 3. Roles and Responsibilities The following provides an overview with respect to role and responsibilities for TELT resource production. 3. Resource format and location There are two influences on the format of TELT resources that both relate to time, time it takes to produce a resource and limited time of learning teaching staff have to access and use the resource, therefore resources should be clear, concise and easy to find. It is recommended that we adopt the following format: 1. Overview: what, why and references to additional guidance – PDF no more than two sides 2. Additional guidance – PDF Userguide only 3. Learning and teaching case studies – video & PDF With 2, CPLD may need to produce guidance, however, the guidance may already exist or additional guidance may not be necessary. With 3 there may not be any teaching case studies to attach, depending on the resource that is created. It is suggested, that there should not be cross reference to specific points in related guides within the overview but links to related guides at the bottom of the overview, this will facilitated easier repurposing and updating. The resource should then go into the “Using Technology in Learning and Teaching” learning room and the NTU learning repository. Presently, the ENO project is investigating making resources accessible with a URL outside of NTU within the learning repository so when this is enabled it is suggested the TELT published resources are made open using this method, so that they can be linked to from multiple places. 4. Production time The following gives the standard timeline for a production schedule for a TELT resource. It is in two parts, the first part is the overview and guidance, the second is the case study.
