2. Definition
“Leadership is a complex process by which a
person influences others to accomplish a
mission, task or objective and directs the
organization in a way that makes it more cohesive
and coherent.”
4. Vision.
• A leader must have a vision. He should be able to project
what is going to happen in future and what will be the
implications of the decisions he is going to take.
• He should be able to travel into an unexplored path and take
decisions.
• A leader should be trustworthy to lead others and possess
an exemplary character.
• A leader must be able to set goals and strategies to achieve
them.
5. Charismatic Personality.
• A leader should provide an environment that is full of energy and
positive reinforcement. A charismatic leader sways followers
with magnetic personality and inspiring speeches.
6. Passion.
• A leader must have passion to achieve that vision. He must
assure that the strategies made by him to achieve goals and
objectives set are implemented well and followed. People will
respond more openly to a person of passion and dedication.
• A leader must be able to check the progress of the work time
to time and he should show zeal and enthusiasm to motivate
the team.
• A good leader as well as keeping the main goal in focus is able
to think analytically. Not only does a good leader view a
situation as a whole, but is able to break it down into sub parts
for closer inspection.
7. Courage.
• A leader must have courage to take decisions, to invent and
bring innovative ideas to the team.
• He should be courageous to think different and to discover
an effective, intelligent and productive group.
• A good leader is committed to excellence, a leader must be
able to inspire the team member for their best effort.
8. Nobility
• The actions of a leader must be noble and impartial.
• His actions should be transparent.
• Good leaders are tolerant of ambiguity and remain
calm, composed and steadfast to the main purpose.
Storms, emotions, and crisis come and go and a good leader
takes these as part of the journey and keeps a cool head.
• A leader also needs to function in an orderly and purposeful
manner in situations of uncertainty.
9. Integrity.
• A leader should be high on moral and ethical values and his
character must be clean.
• A leader needs to be trusted and be known to live their
life with honesty and integrity.
• Leaders must be a source of inspiration, and be a
motivator towards the required action or cause.
• A leader must work and succeed with integrity.
10. Manage Failures.
• For a leader it is more important to deal with failure than
success.
• Credit for success should be given to the team and failure
should be owned by a leader. The good leader not only
maintains high standards, but also is proactive in raising the
bar in order to achieve excellence in all areas.
• A leader must recognize the contribution of others in a task.
