Teenage girls step out and step up

A teen flash mob wowed shoppers
at the new Silverdale Centre on
Thursday afternoon.
About 100 girls were involved in
the spontaneous dance at 4pm in
fiont of hundreds of visitors.
The flash mob was a finale to a
three-day conference called 'You
Are" for teenage girls, hosted at
KingsWay School in Orewa.
Flash mob starter and event org-
aniser Vanessa Gatman says the
event was about stepping out and
expressing who the girls are.
"It was a brave step for 100 girls
to put themselves out there and
step out of their coinfort zones,"
Mrs Gatman says.
"I knew if I was asking the young
