1. School Magazine
At the start of my course, I am going to create a cover and contents
page of my schools magazine. This will help me to develop
software skills and be able to use Photoshop accurately when I
start making my music magazine. It is a good idea to make one
before hand as a draft to get an idea of what I need to improve on
and give myself any feedback from what I created. The techniques
that I will use in order to make this magazine will be the same I will
use for my music magazine. This magazine will not be as good as
my music magazine as it will be more of a draft then the actual
project. I will improve on any mistakes and elaborate more in what
I do.

7. On the title for the magazine and
contents page, I used the colour
dark blue with white as it is the
main colour for Preston Manor High
schools tie, uniform and colour
code. On Photoshop I used drop
shadow, inner glow and outer glow.
On warp text I used flag to give it a
wavy effect. For the first letter of the
titles I used the text ‘Palace Script
MT’ . The reason for why I made
these decisions is because it links
well with the school and its logo as
the way the title goes from low to
high shows the progress and
achievement for students from early
years to late.

8. Original image
I cropped out the picture using ‘quick
selection tool’ on Photoshop and
cropped out the whole green
background. This made it easy for me
as it selected the background and let
me crop it out accurately without
having to erase small parts. This was
the advantage of using a green screen
behind my model. I then dragged the
image onto this background which is a
mixture of blue and white.

9. I made a few changes and added a shape
which was eye catching and put over it
“Win a free iPad”. Both these things
related and it would be more appealing to
the audience. I also added a website at
the top of my cover for any other
information and moved the title down so
that it is clearer for the readers.
At first I added the basics on the front
page such as stories on the side and
what to expect in the magazine. It
seemed dull and there was no website
or anything that the audience can get
extra information from. Also the top
of the title was a bit cut out and didn’t
fit in properly

10. Conclusion
I learnt many new things on Photoshop whilst creating my
school magazine. Such as different tools, effects and colours I
can use to create new ideas. This will help me during the
process of my music magazine. I have learnt from my changes to
include the important information on the magazine, include
important additional images and make it more appealing and
catchy to the audience.
