This is the smart part of the USB flash drive, and it indicates where information must be saved. Its
quality determines how well the flash drive works, and has a direct bearing on its useful life.
USBMODELS® assembles Taiwan-made controllers, SMI, Phison or USBest.
• 4. NAND flash memory chip
It represents 80% of the cost of the USB flash drive and is used to store data. Contains an array
of cells where information is stored. They can store 1 or 2 bits of information.
What is a downgrade or white flash drive?
Sometimes during the manufacturing process, errors occur which produce defective storage cells in the
USB drive chip. These blocks cannot be used for information storage, so a 1 GB original memory can see
its capacity reduced to 512MB.
Some manufacturers mark drives with defective cells as “downgrade” and sell them at lower prices.
Problems of downgrade flash drives:
• Errors when saving information (many defective cells).
• Nominal speed reduced (up to 50% less).
• Reduced life time of your flash drive.
• Very high RMA rate.
USBMODELS® only assembles Nand Flash drives from Samsung, Toshiba and Hynix original series.
These manufacturers guarantee the original capacity of the drives.
To check whether a flash drive is downgrade, just open it and look for the supplier's logo on the chip
(Samsung, Hynix, Toshiba or Intel). You wont' find any logo in downgrade or “white” flash drives.

Lifetime warranty
All our USB flash drives have a lifetime warranty. USBMODELS® only assembles
original Nand Flash drives from Samsung, Toshiba and Hynix. These manufacturers
guarantee the original capacity of the flash drives. USBMODELS® only uses Taiwan-
manufactured controllers: SMI, Phison and USBest.

2. Warranty Service
This warranty will cover any manufacturing defects excluding defects arising from misuse.
Steps to follow:
• Try the common tests such as: plug it in and out, plugging it in different computers, using
different earphones (MP3), etc. In the event of a software service malfunction, it is important that
you try your device in a computer that is not connected to local network (work) since the problem
might be in the assignation of the drives.
• If the result of the detailed tests is negative, you should follow the next steps to make use of your
device's warranty.
• Fill out the RMA form . Please leave blank the field: 'RMA Nº.
• Please send to us a copy of your bill and send it us scanned with your RMA form to
rma@usbmodels.es. The subject of your email should be: RMA + IC- 'customer number'
• Our technicians will validate your paperwork and send you back your RMA form with the 'RMA Nº'
filled out.
• Send us the faulty goods attaching your RMA form. Clearly indicating on the box your customer
number and your RMA number.
NOTE 1: If the goods received by USBMODELS® function correctly or the fault is not covered by your
warranty, goods will be sent back in the same conditions as received and a handling costs of
30GBP will be charged. In this case, the customer will pay for all postage and packaging fees.
NOTE 2: Batteries will be covered by our warranty for the period of three (3) months from the purchase
date.
NOTE 3: The repairs will take place in our offices in Shenzhen (China). Postage and packaging fees will
be paid by USBMODELS®. Goods will be returned in the same conditions as received. There
will be times, when the personalization of the devices will not be possible to maintain.
