This document discusses how mobile technology can help address citizen problems in smart cities. It identifies three main citizen challenges: relying on call centers, a lack of performance measurement and accountability, and not having simple information available when and where needed. It then demonstrates two smart apps: an issue reporting app that allows citizens to report problems and field agents to manage issues, and a transport app that provides transit information. Finally, it envisions how these types of apps could evolve to further improve city services and citizen experiences.
