SUMMARY
Self directed, highly motivating professional, successful in building a collaborative relationship with business
partners.
Have successfully steered SCE's Engineering compliance to NERC Operation and Control standards (O&C),
supporting WECC standards, as well as Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) standards through on-site
WECC audits in 2009, 2012 and 2015, without any findings or compliance violations.
Developed and implemented tools leading to considerable improvement in deliverable quality, operational
efficiency and cost reduction.
Motivated team members towards operational excellence through knowledge sharing and training.
Have been instrumental in developing and migrating to a secure repository for compliance business data for
the business line as a pilot project
HIGHLIGHTS
NERC/ WECC O&C standards audit support as Gather and review compliance evidence, develop
subject matter expert (SME) RSAW narratives and Build e-Binders for auditor
reporting and submit quarterly misoperation reports,
NERC CIP standards audit support as .subject matter bi-annual Line rating remediation reports to WECC. .
expert (SME) Review asset classification, physical and electronic
system parameters, Bulk Electric System (BES)
Technical System protection support to substation elements.
construction & maintenance personnel Provide protective relay settings and Digital Fault
Recorder (DFR) settings and perform event & root
Management presentations cause analysis.
Develop and present business case for pilot projects,
retooling and product assessments.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Developed and implemented Aspen Relay database for System Protection Engineers, replacing paper based
relay setting repository to electronic, secure and distributable repository leading to cost reduction, reduction in
error and operational efficiency.
Developed and implemented Relay Event database for System Protection Engineers, providing an electronic,
secure and distributable repository of relay events and analysis data leading to quality compliance reporting and
operational efficiency.
Delivered management presentation, configured migration tool and assisted the IT support group to develop the
electronic document management and record management (eDMRM) repository, and assisted in migrating
compliance documents to eDMRM, leading to improvement in security and operational efficiency.
Played an active role in developing the IEEE Power and Energy System (PES) chapter and delivered numerous
talks on Power system engineering topics to improve awareness in young engineering professionals as the chair
of the IEEE PES chapter.
EXPERIENCE
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON
Pomona, CA
Title - Engineer III 01/2005 to Current
Built a solid foundation of compliance documentation comprising of evidence documents, RSAW (Reliability
Standards Audit Worksheets) narratives, procedures and datasets demonstrating SCE's compliance to the
applicable standard's requirements, leading to successfulon site WECC audits in 2009, 2012 and 2015 without any
significant findings or violations.
Received positive comments from the auditors from WECC on the quality of documentation, team work, quick
and accurate response to their data requests, and also from GridSME the External audit review consultants, during
2. the audit review interviews in 2015 audit.
Performed analysis of Engineering data and documentation to detect, for any potential issues leading to
non-compliance to NERC Reliability Standards' requirements and Engineering through self- reporting and
mitigation process.
Coordinated Data request response to WECC data requests, filing of self- reports and mitigation plan for potential
non- compliance issues on coordination.
Coordinated with the interconnecting generation Owners, Transmission Operators and Balancing operators
(CAISO) to coordinate new system protection settings or changes to current system settings to meet compliance
requirements of the PRC-001 standard.
Managed quarterly mis-operation reporting to WECC for misoperation on BES lines as well as Major WECC
Path lines and RAS systems to meet compliance requirements of PRC-004 standard as well as corresponding
WECC standard PRC-004-WECC-1.
During 2009 and 2015 audits there were no significant findings or potential violations from WECC auditors for
PRC, FAC, EOP and WECC standards.
On detection of possible compliance violation in Transmission system line rating and load ability requirements of
the NERC standards FAC-008 and PRC-023, coordinated with RSC, Protection Engineering, Transmission
Engineering on working out remediation measures and filing a self-report with WECC with remediation plan in
keeping with SCE's culture of compliance and reduce risk of penalties.
Collaborated with Reliability Standards and Compliance (RSC) and NERC Compliance Program (NCP) groups
over risk based analysis of engineering procedure and incorporated the detective/ preventive control points in
procedures to detect and prevent non-compliance to the reliability standards, leading to reduction in requirements
from WECC's list of standards to be audited in 2015.
