The Hohe Wand is a mountain ridge in Lower Austria located in the Gutenstein Alps west of Steinfeld in the Vienna Basin. Its highest peak, Plackles, reaches 1,132 meters in elevation. The Hohe Wand derives its name from the steep cliffs on its south and southeast sides, which means "High Wall" in German. The high plateau stretches about 8 kilometers long from Plackles in the southwest to the Wandeck in the northeast.
