3. Call of duty: Black Ops Released in November 2010, selling 7 million copies in 24 hours. It managed $650 million in first 5 days. Sales now unknown, estimated over $1 billion. The Federal Department of Media Harmful to Young Persons received an "urgent request" to ban all international versions of the game. It’s reasons may have been the success of previous games.
4. Gran Turismo 5 It spent $80 million on creating the game, one of the largest figures for any game. Again its history may have helped it. In December it sold 5.5 million units. Is the highest selling Playstation exclusive franchise. It has taken a long time, first announced in 2005, before the PS3 had even been released.
5. Fallout: New Vegas Story about a new world which has been devastated into a wasteland. Was awarded the E3 award for best RPG. It features a very unique storyline, one of the reasons why its so popular. Released on the three main platforms. Reviews said it was a good game but many complained about problems.
6. Halo: Reach Story is set in the future where there is a war between two sides and you are in Noble team. It grossed $200 million on its first day. In North America alone it sold over 3 million units in its first month. Spent $6.5 million on marketing. $350 million of merchandise in 15 days.
7. Band Hero This was released in November 2009 for Nintendo DS, Wii, Xbox 360, PS3 and PS2, This was a new type of gameplay for the guitar hero franchise. There has been many lawsuits resulting in certain contracts with musicians. Sold 3.4 billion units. In total earning $2 billion.
