DDG Scheme (Distributed Decentralized Generation)
Under the MNRE scheme (RGGVY) the electrification of the remote villages
without distribution systems is being taken up. Decentralized Distributed Generation
projects can be from conventional or renewable sources such as Biomass, Biofuels,
Biogas, Mini hydro, solar etc for villages where grid connectivity is either not feasible
or not cost effective.
The RGGVY in XI Plan has a financial outlay of Rs. 540 Crore for implementation
of DDG projects.
Under DDG scheme of RGGVY, 90% of the project cost is provided as capital
subsidy by the Government. All un-electrified revenue villages and hamlets (above
100 population) are eligible under DDG scheme of RGGVY. Identification of eligible
villages shall be done by SREDAs in consultation with state utilities SC/ST
development corporation and MNRE.
The detailed project reports (DPR) of 15 villages of HESCOM, 46 villages of
MESCOM, 1 Hamlet of CESC and 1 village of GESCOM, Total of 63 DPRs submitted
to REC for approval.

Solar City Project
Solar City project aims to promote energy security and Green Energy, the
“Development of Solar Cities” program is designed to support/encourage Urban
Local Bodies to prepare a Road Map to guide their cities in becoming ‘renewable
energy cities’ or ‘solar cities’.
•Mysore and Hubli - Dharwad are selected as solar cities.
•Master Plan for Mysore as solar city has been approved in 2012.
• An amount of Rs. 1.5 Lakhs has been released towards preparation of master plan
for Hubli – Dharwad under Solar City Program.
•Total amount of Rs. 5.65 Lakhs has been released for Mysore city Corporation
under Solar City Program.
•196 kWp stand alone SPV power plants at 5 locations are sanctioned to Mysore
Solar City. MNRE sanctioned 30% of the project cost i.e.Rs.158.70lakhs and
released an amount of Rs.79.35lakhs.
•The CFA up to Rs. 9.5Cr for each model solar city will be provided with the
condition that the similar matching funds up to Rs. 9.5Cr is provided by the
