God created humanity for His glory and pleasure. He created humans in His image to have a relationship with Him and care for the world He created. God enjoys creating beings who can know and worship Him. While humans are special creations, crowned with glory, God remains the sole Creator who sustains all things.

“Youwere shownthese thingsso that you mightknow that the LORD is God;besideshim there is no
other”(Deuteronomy4:35).
The Bible tellsusthatGod createdeverything, includinghumanity, becauseit pleasedHimtocreate for
His glory:“ For from himand throughhim andfor himare all things. To him be the gloryforever!
Amen. (Romans11:36; In reference tothe same subjectwe canlearnin Revelation4:11“You are
worthy, our Lord andGod, to receive glory andhonor andpower, for you created all things, and by
your will they were created andhave their being”.Thisteachesus that it gave God pleasure andit
broughtHim gloryto create man andwoman.By doingso,He demonstratedHiscreative geniusin
makingnotonlythe universe,butitshighestpersonalbeing,man:“SoGodcreated mankindinhis own
image,in the image ofGodhe created them; male and femalehe created them. (Genesis1:27).
Later, we can learnthat God reinforcedthispowerfultruththrough the prophetIsaiah, whosaidfor
Him:"…bringmy sonsfrom afarand my daughtersfrom the end of the earth, everyone whois called
by my name, whomI created for my glory, whomI formedand made" (Isaiah43:6-7). A New
Testamentstatementaffirmsthe same thing inadifferentcontextinColossians1:"Forin himall things
were created: thingsin heaven andon earth, visibleand invisible, whetherthrones or powers or rulers
or authorities;all thingshave been created throughhim andfor him." (Colossians1:16).
God alsowantedmanto care for the beautiful worldthatHe hadcreatedas the place forthese two
people manandwomanthat He created to live."AndGodsaidtothem, 'Be fruitful andmultiplyandfill
the earth andsubdueit, and have dominionover[watch over, or care for] the fishof the sea andover
the birds ofthe heavensand over every livingthingthat moveson the earth.'" (Genesis1:28) We can
learnfurtherinGenesis2: "The Lord God took the manand put himin the Garden ofEden to work it
and take care of it" (Genesis2:15 ).
Part of God's image of goodnessandlove thatHe put intoman's heartgivesusthe sensesbywhichto
knowGod: “Ipraise you because I am fearfullyandwonderfullymade; your works are wonderful, I
know that full well (Psalm139:14). He enabled uswithabilitiesinwhichtoserve Him.Godenjoyed
creatinga race of beingswho were made inHislikeness thatwe have the capacitiestogive Himthe
pleasure of ourcompany, while we enjoythe pleasureof Hiscompany. A relationshipwithGod. He gave
us the capacityto love Himand to worshipHim. We can learnwhere JesusencouragedHisdiscipleswith
thissame truth whenHe said:"I no longercall youservants, becausea servantdoes not know his
master’s business.Instead,I have calledyou friends,for everythingthat I learned from my Father I
have made knownto you" (John15:15).
WhenGod made the universe,He didwhatpleasedHimself, andsince GodisperfectinHisgoodness,
His love,Hisrighteousness, andHiswisdom, we maybe certainthatGod enjoyedcreatingmankind
withoutflawinall these ways.So,whenHe finishedcreatingthe cosmos,the world,andman,Godcould
honestlysay,"It[is] verygood" assaid in Genesis1:31 - “Godsaw all that he had made, and it was very
good. And there wasevening, andthere was morning—thesixthday.God didnot create people as
2. equalswithHimself.He isstill Creator,andwe are creatureswhoutterlydependonHimforeverything.
"Forin him we live andmove and have ourbeing. As some ofyour own poets have said,‘Weare his
offspring" (Acts17:28)". We must place God before all things thatwe see andknow: “He isbefore all
things, andin himall thingsholdtogether” (Colossians1:17). It isonlythroughHim thatwe have rain,
sunshine andamillionotherthingsthatwe dependonHim. Italwayswill be true that"the LORD is God
and no otherbutHim; “Youwere shown these thingsso that youmight know that the LORD isGod;
besideshim there isno other” (Deuteronomy4:35).
In reference tohumanityandGodwe can learnfromPsalm8: “Youhave made thema little lower than
the angelsandcrowned themwithglory andhonor” (Psalm8:5). Inadditiontowhat we receive from
God each day,amongover7 Billionhumanslivingon earth, individuallywe mustconsiderhow amazing
it isto be a creature that is"crownedwiththe gloryandhonor" of bearingandmultiplyingGod'sgreat
name and Hislikeness.
“You were shown these things so that you might know that the LORD is God;
besides him there is no other”(Deuteronomy 4:35).
