A lever is a machine consisting of a beam or rigid rod pivoted at a
fixed hinge, or fulcrum.
The word comes from the French lever, "to raise"
A lever amplifies an input force to provide a greater output force, which is
said to provide leverage
An input force is put in order to provide a greater output force, the input
force provide leverage.
Levers are used to:
increase force and to change the direction of motion
sometimes we use levers without knowing it.
there are levers we use every day.
3. Classes of levers
• Class 1: Fulcrum in the middle: the effort
is applied on one side of the fulcrum
• It uses a fulcrum in between
• The closer it is to the load, the more force
is applied.
4. • Class 2:resistence is in the middle and the
fulcrum is on the other side and force on
the opposite side of the fulcrum.
5. • Class 3: Effort in the middle: the
resistance is on one side of the effort and
the fulcrum is located on the other side.
