Project Title Feeding the homeless at the Randy Sams Shelter
Community Partners Randy Sams Shelter 402 Oak Street Texarkana, TX 75501
Estimated Number of participants 13 participants: 3 people from our group and 10 other volunteers
Project Description The group project we decided to do is to feed the homeless. On average the shelter serves between 60 and 70 people per night. Our group is going to provide and serve one meal to the homeless. Each member of our group, and the volunteers we recruite, will bring eight dollars to help pay for the food. We will have a total of one hundred and four dollars to spend at Sam's Club, where the food will be purchased. We will serve hot dogs and water at this meal.
The hot dog franks are $15.94 for an eighty count box, buns will cost $9.40 for an eighty count pack, Frito Lay flavor pack of chips will cost $20.76 for a box of one hundred, the case of water will cost $11.94 for 96 bottles, plates will cost $7.98 for a pack of one hundred and twenty, napkins will be $9.98, Ketchup, Mustard, and Relish will cost $7.98 for a value pack, and lastly a box of trash bags for the clean-up will cost $9.36. The grand total of all our products will be $93.29. We will bring a grill from home and use the tables provided by the shelter to make this project a success.

Reflection & Documentation We will gather our information on the Randy Sams Shelter by calling and asking questions, visiting the shelter to see the process of the meals, and ask other community members about their experience volunteering at the homeless shelter.
Assessment Other people in the community are prone to volunteer when they hear other community members explain the feeling they get by knowing they helped someone in need and put a smile on their face. . When volunteers show their leadership values, they inspire others in the community to volunteer as well.
