Classic by Jules Verne
Graphic by Carl Bowen
PowerPoint by Emily
Pierre Arronox- professor in search of
the monster they believe is a whale in
the classic and a narwhal in the graphic

Conseil- Pierre’s assistant and servant
who also came on the trip

Ned Land- King of harpoons. Has a
cannon as an arm and great eye-sight. In
the Classic novel they call him the
Canadian, This is not mentioned in the
graphic

Captain Nemo- crazy captain of the
Nautilus who takes them prisoner on his
ship.
In 1866-1867
Leave New York and travel on
the ship Abraham Lincoln until
they are captured and taken to
the Nautilus. They traveled
20,000 leagues on the Nautilus,
hence the title of the book.
Spend more time at places they
visit in the classic novel though.
People have started to notice
strange events out at sea all over
the world so they send the
professor and crew out to sea to
find what it was. They don’t find a
creature but a submarine! This was
fascinating because in 1866 they
were no such things as submarines.
They were held hostage on the ship
by Captain Nemo. The only rule he
had was that when he said to go in
their cabin, they must do as they
are told. They went on many
adventures until they realized
Nemo was a madman, and escaped
in the moonlight. In the classic
novel it is much more descriptive.
They can’t leave the Nautilus and
Captain Nemo is a madman. There are
much more small conflicts that happen
in the classic novel. Squids attack in
both, but Lack of air, sharks, and other
things are in the Classic.
Adventurous underwater
It is sad at the end when Captain
Nemo is crying before the pictures
It can be scary at times
It is happy though because the
characters are amazed at the
wonders they see
The theme is Underwater Fantasy. I
think this is also a bit of a Sci-fi
because it is in the future.
They solve the problem by
escaping the Nautilus in the
moonlight.
