2. Initial Front Cover Design
Overall, I don’t think that this is a very
good design for a music magazine front
cover. This is because there is a lot of
space left, and there is no introduction to
what the magazine will include. This
would instantly make people
uninterested because the magazine isn’t
providing them with essential
information needed to buy a magazine.
Also, the image would not be suitable for
the front cover of a magazine because
although it fits the theme, the main artist
is not exactly in clear view, when the
main artist should actually be the main
focus of the magazine.
3. Initial Front Cover Design
This initial idea for the front cover design, I believed was a good idea because it
suited the genre of country music well, as it adheres to the stereotypes associated
with country music such as acoustic guitars shown in the background on the page.
However, when it came to making this front page, there was too much white
space and the font was not suitable for this purpose as it is not clear and easy to
read. Therefore I did not go ahead with this initial design.
4. Initial Front Cover Design
After asking for feedback on this front
cover design, I decided not to use it.
This is because a majority of people
asked said that they did not like this
design, and also it doesn’t leave much
room in order to try and sell the
magazine. This means that the text and
offers are all squashed into one area on
the magazine which is not a good
design for a magazine front cover.
5. Initial Contents Page Design
This initial idea for a contents page, I actually created before realising that it left
too much blank white space on the page. The use of colour was also inconsistent
throughout the initial magazine idea and therefore I decided that this was not an
appropriate choice for a contents page.

This is a poor design for a contents
page because of the layout. This is
because there is a lot of spare space
that is not used up and also because
there is no true explanation of what
each article in the magazine is about, it
only states who it is about. Also, there
is no picture of the main featured
artist, but instead a guitar, however,
the main artist is what’s meant to be
the main attention of the magazine,
but in this case, it is not.
7. Initial Double Page Spread Design
After looking at all of my initial ideas, I decided that this idea was not the best design.
This is because there would be a lot of blank white space needing used up, and the
picture of the main artist faded into the background would clash with the use of text
in front and potentially obstruct the text. Therefore this is not the final design for my
music magazine.
8. Initial Double Page Spread Design
I decided not to use this design for the double page spread because there was no
room left for quotes or other pictures in the article of which are generically found
in professional magazines.
