“ Jerry’s asked me to give a quick refresher on the ways in which we’re trying to get information out to the network. 2 reasons for doing this: first to remind you what’s available, and second is to get feedback about how we can do it better.” Most of our communications are online, and the first component of that is the website. “ Jerry’s asked me to give a quick refresher on the ways in which we’re trying to get information out to the network. 2 reasons for doing this: first to remind you what’s available, and secondly to invite comments about how we can do it better.” Most of our communications are online, and the first component of that is the website. There’s a lot of stuff on there… [ > Resources page ]
First is the resources area where we regularly post Conference materials (powerpoint slides, audio recordings – that’s where you’ll go to get any slides you see here today) Training materials (I know the Reconxile start up training workbooks have got a lot of use over the last year) Other useful snippets of information (‘Sources of Funding’ recently) “ Some of these resources are generated by us, some come from other sources, but you can contribute to the network as well. If you ever come across or create useful things do let us know and we can make it available to the network” [ > Projects page ]
This is where you’ll find the most up to date information that we have on TBN projects. The reason we have this: Encouragement of new members (great to see examples of projects of different sizes) Surprisingly effective source of new contacts (had 3 new contacts in the last couple of weeks just because of projects pages) Teaches lessons learned from existing projects, and prompts connections between people new to TBN and experienced project leaders We want this to be as rich a resource as possible, so if you run a project that we don’t have information on, or if lots has changed since we last got an update from you, do come and find me so we can talk about getting an update online. If you haven’t been to the site much do have a look at the resources and projects that are there. [ > News page ]
Finally, any news items or updates are posted to our website’s News page. We also publish news and updates through our eNews email and Twitter. [ > eNews emails ]
We send these out around once a month with a round up of updates , news , event information and (importantly) requests or communications from other members in the network and potential entrepreneurs. This is a really important part of what TBN does, this match making, so I do encourage you to read these when they come into your inbox. [ > Twitter ]
If you don’t like reading emails or just want smaller chunks of information do make sure you’re following us on Twitter. I promise I don’t use it to update you on what Jerry’s having for lunch! Most of the things sent out in eNews will also be seen here, along with other bits and pieces such as articles, resources or outside events that don’t make the cut for eNews. [ > LinkedIn ]
The final thing to mention is LinkedIn. TBN posts things here, and members are using it to talk to each other on this like: Asking for for technical or market knowledge Announcing new developments in their projects Starting discussions about things they are interested in or want to know more about TBGs (TBN’s local groups) are using subgroups on LinkedIn – do ask me if you want to as well. [ > Close ] Part of the reason we’re telling you this is as a refresher, but I’d also like to know if it’s actually working! We want to communicate effectively so if you have any comments or suggestions on the way we’re communicating or the types of things we’re sending out please do come and talk to Jerry or me today.
