The document discusses voice-directed warehouse solutions. It describes how voice solutions work by transmitting assignments to wearable devices that provide voice commands to workers and receive spoken responses. Voice solutions can increase productivity by 15-20% for case picking and up to 50% for piece picking while improving accuracy to over 99%. How can you get more output from the existing organization and improve existing processes? MARGIN PRESSURE Margin pressure from competitive market forces and increased costs is causing pressures to look for savings throughout the business. Reducing Operating costs is paramount to the business to stay competitive GOVERNMENT REGULATION Faced with changing and expanding regulatory requirements, you need to ensure compliance with ePedigree requirements, maintain tracking of lot/batch/country of origin, comply with FDA Bioterrorism Act requirements (21 CFR 1.327(b)), and more. SCALABILITY You are evaluating processes to keep pace with the growth of your on-line business and find a solution to address the line item order fulfillment business amid a changing mix of product shipments. You also are challenged to manage complexity caused by a proliferation and volume of SKUs. ACCURACY Providing more “perfect orders” is a top objective in enhancing customer service. 16. Voice of Success Pep Boys “ We expected productivity improvements of 12% and we achieved them. But when we saw our accuracy rates increase over those we were attaining with RF scanning, we were very surprised. Our accuracy fill rate is averaging 99.63%. Considering we move more than 75 million items a year, a 0.5+ % increase in accuracy is significant.” VP of Distribution
17. Voice of Success Agenda Topic: Vocollect Overview Fox Racing “ Based on our initial success in using Voice in our picking operation, we have now applied it to the tasks of replenishment, put-away and cycle-counting. We’re excited about the potential to find even more ways to leverage our investment to drive bottom-line results and gain competitive advantage.” Director of Distribution
18. Voice of Success The Harvard Drug Group “ We achieved 100% payback on voice almost immediately. Since we operate under mandated Pedigree laws, we wouldn’t have been able to get our products out within the required two-hour ordering time; previously, we struggled to validate our lots in the required timeframes.” Senior VP IT/CIO
19. Voice of Success Burris Logistics “ We saw an 11.9% productivity increase almost immediately. We now have “zero wait time” for our selectors. It’s always been problematic for equipment to work in our freezer environment. This is not an issue with voice.” CIO
20. Voice of Success Agenda Topic: Vocollect Overview Perishable Distributors of Iowa “ Voice from Vocollect has helped us achieve productivity improvements of over 45 percent, 99.995 percent accuracy, a significantly safer work environment due to the hands-free/eyes-free aspect of voice, reduced training time and a one-year return on investment. But we couldn’t achieve these results if our workforce didn’t embrace the voice system in the first place, and that’s why speech recognition technology quality is an important factor to consider,” SR VP of Warehousing

Editor's Notes
The details of the various business issues… hard to read the text on a projector… While most in the voice industry talk about accuracy and productivity… the reality is that the real reason why a Vocollect Voice project is given a green light is that it is supportive of a key business objective… be that a growth initiative or regulatory driver. Typically, this slide is the main conversational driver in order to “fund” a Vocollect Voice project. Without funding support, the operational desires are just that… desires that will rarely advance to a project authorization. So, first we focus on the business at the highest level, then we engage at the operational level… which is where the DC walk-through really takes center stage.
Now that we have discussed the higher business issues, we then continue to peel a layer of the onion by looking at some of the operational issues that can support the execution of the business strategy. Typically, those operational components will fit into one of these four buckets… The video clips images will launch a video snippet about this subject matter….
