4. - The Sacred Heart
environmental club installed
CFL, energy efficient light bulbs
in a total of 8 households on
November 23rd, 2013.
5. - Most of the residents that
are serviced come from
lower-income households.
When we revealed their
over-all savings from the
installment of the CFL light
bulbs, they were thrilled!
Not only does this project
help conserve energy, but it
aids in New Orleans
residents’ financial struggles
by lowering utility bills.
6. What is your team’s plan for an ongoing
relationship with the charity?
• Greenlight New Orleans has become such a
frequent volunteering opportunity at Sacred
Heart over the years. A majority of the
students have participated in at least one
event with this organization.
• The environmental club strives to keep this
relationship going by organizing more dates
and projects for the students to participate in.
7. How would your charity benefit from
receiving a portion of the prize
money?
• Greenlight New Orleans is solely funded
through grants, individual
donations, membership, and through an
energy efficiency program called Energy
Smart. Because the company does not make a
profit off of its service to the community, any
money is much needed to fund the whole
project for things such as purchasing the CFL
light bulbs.
