Even if you are not traveling with us you are welcome to contact us for any kind of information regarding your visit to The Himalayas.

When I touch the water of a mountain stream it flows with a melodious sound. Air waves my hair and clouds envelope me in
their lap and I do not see around me. All of sudden they disappear and trees bend down to give me their lovely touch. When I
walk through them they protect me with their palm shaped branches and I become a part of them. Oaks and Rhododendrons
take me in their arms and lift me up through me up and make me touch the tops of pines.

Come with me. I promise to take you to some of the most breathtaking scenery crossing uninhabited Plains,
Gorges, Valleys and Mountain Passes. You shall also be exploring isolated Monasteries, Trekking in the remote areas, walk or
drive through the stunning Landscapes and be staying in Village Houses at some places.

                                            Here at Astounding Himalayas

Kindly Read the Following Carefully Before you Take These Trips
Travel Research
These treks are for those who enjoy walking & traveling without the knowledge of what is around and the next corner. Although
we run these trekking programs on fixed itineraries but still we keep the trips as flexible as possible for your convenience and
comforts of our clients. In these trips we offer the opportunity to trek to some remote areas where every one wishes to go at
least once in his or her life but due to certain reasons, such as health, or time sometimes can’t go there.
    The following is to inform you that these trips require a very Special Type of Traveler;
         • One who enjoys in the unknown.
         • One who is ready for the ups and downs of exploratory travel.
         • One who does not expect silky comforts during the trips.
         • One who is prepared to pitch in and help when required.
         • One who does not care what is there around and after the next curve.

Physical Rating
The participant to these treks should have a good level of fitness. You may be expected to walk for 5-6 hours a day with your
own day pack. On the treks we have porters or mules to carry all the material such as Tents, Your Luggage, Kitchen Equipment,
   Kitchen staff and injured.
The terrain of the region is Mountainous and Challenging. The trails at a number of places are narrow, bumpy or dusty. At some
places we might be crossing the streams or water flow. So due to these conditions we are likely to walk slow and might become
irritating for you. But only those shall enjoy these treks who know how to enjoy the Natural beauty and the landscape around.
We are dead sure that the Geographical Carvings and the Landscape on these treks is so stunning that it does not give you any
opportunity to get irritated and leave your camera.
The effects of altitude can be a problem, so the itineraries have been designed in such a way that we gain height gradually.

Group Size
Looking at the comforts of the Travelers and the Staff our group size remains as follows :
            • Maximum – 18 pax
            • Minimum - 2 pax

Accommodation
Guest Houses, Tents.
During these treks we shall be traveling away from the usual and crowded tourist places. Somost of the time we shall be staying
in tents pitched by us where as at some, a very few places are there where we have PWD Guest Houses and Forest Rest Houses.
Although all the guest houses used are decided after a personal visit and have attached toilets and bathrooms but may not be
able to provide hot water showers.
During the treks we are bound to use pit tented toilets.
Body sponging is possible at the places where showers are not available.
Like European and American countries there are not any designated places to pitch tents during the treks and we are allowed to
pitch tent where ever it is feasible. The only thing that we have to see is the water source.

Transport
Train, Jeeps, Bus, Walking.
There are some very long travel days, often on rough dirt roads.
Landslides, Road blockage or Vehicle Malfunction may cause disruption to the trip. So be ready for a sudden change in the
itinerary that might extend your stay in India by two to five days.

Meals
All the treks are accompanied by a Professional Cook, Helpers and an Escort cum Guide who take care for comforts of the
   groups.
All possible kitchen equipment and ration is carried along and Chinese, Continental & Indian items are the parts of the meals.
Every time we try our best to provide the best possible food that includes, Fruits, Salads, Drinks, Juices, Mineral Water, Soup,
Sweet Dish and the Main Course, but at some places may be we are unable to provide some particular item due to the shortage
   or unavailability of the material.

Travel Insurance
It is compulsory to get your Travel Insurance certificate to participate on any of our trips. When traveling on a group trip, you
will not be permitted to join the group until evidence of travel insurance has been checked by your leader, who will take note of
    your insurance details.

Health
Before you travel to India it is advised that you should consult your doctor for up to date information and prescriptions for
vaccinations, anti-malarial requirements and any reasonably foreseeable illnesses.
Although a First Aid Box is always a part of our Kit along with the Oxygen Cylinder and Mask (One for each vehicle), still we
recommend that you carry any personal medical requirements if you have.
Astounding Himalayas
Village Tourism Promoters E – Mail : astoundinghimalayas@gmail.com

You might experience Acute Mountain Sickness and Oxygen deprivation. A first aid box is always carried along with the trip that
    contains all the required medicines.

Season for Trekking
In spring you might find snowy conditions anywhere in Himalayas in India above 8000 feet in elevation. Snow melts from spring
onwards but also conditions vary from place to place.
By the October any place in the Western Himalayas can be very cold.
July to September are the rainy months in India so if you are trekking in Green areas, below 12000 ft, you might have long
   rainy days.
Remmeber that himlayan climate is particularly dependant on two conditions, the elevation and the time of the year. So be
prepared. A drop of 3.5 degree Fahrenheit for every 1000 feet gained in elevation is common.

Cultural Shock
India is a country which may be very different from something that you may have experienced before. In most of the small of
big towns here pollution, poverty and the crowds can result in initial culture shock. Some villages are still under the poverty line
but they follow their traditions and culture strictly. So all this should be seen as an exciting new challenge.

Weather Conditions
July to September are the monsoon months in India and there could be some unforeseen problems like road blockages due to
land slides or roads damages. Although the Boarder Road Organization people are very well equipped and work very fast in
these conditions but still then a change or delay in itinerary could be there or we reach the destination from some other route,
   however it is quite unlikely.
In these conditions Government of India and the State tourism Department also become very active and extends the best
possible help but we always seek your cooperation.
Check out the India Meteorological web site http://www.imd.ernet.in/main_new.htm for the latest news on the weather forecast
   in India.

Travel Light
During the itinerary you will be traveling most of the time so pack as lightly as possible (stay under 10 kg/22lb). It is in your
own interest as you are expected to carry your own luggage, though distances are never great. Most travelers carry their
luggage in a back pack, although an overnight bag with a shoulder strap would suffice. Avoid Suitcases.
Keep your bags locked. The smaller your bag is the better, for when it comes to traveling on trains or buses usually only
smaller bags will fit into the storage areas. If your bag does not fit in these areas, often the only place to put it is on your seat
or on the roof. So to get maximum comfort, pack small and light!
The mountains can be cold. Night time temperatures can be as low as 5 degrees, so bring a set of warmer clothes; thermal
underclothes, being small and light, can be very useful. A warm jumper/jacket, cap, gloves and sunglasses no matter what time
of the year, as we travel at altitudes above 3500m.

Dressing
It is very important that when you are travelling to India, you kindly dress up keeping in mind the respect for the locale culture,
especially Ladies. In some area you might have some people gathering around you, touching you and looking at you for a long
time, as you are a foreigner.
As a general guideline full shirts and full length skirts or knee covered skirts are recommended at all times. At some places or
the religious buildings shorts are not allowed as it will restrict your entry into buildings.
At religious places such as Bhima kali Temple at Sarahan or Kamru Fort in Sangla or some Monasteries you shall be required to
cover your head. The cloth is provided by the temple. So kindly follow the tradition other wise the authorities might not allow
   you to enter the premises.
You are required to cover your head before entering every Sikh Temple. You may cover it with a handkerchief or a piece of cloth
   provided by the temple.
In India before entering all religious places you are required to remove your shoes. You can also bring a pair of floaters footwear
those are easily available in the markets in India too, these footwear are easy to remove and wear.

Photography and Interaction with Local
During our treks there will be many opportunities for you to meet and talk with locals. You are allowed to take pictures but it is
also suggested that you take permission before clicking their houses, lifestyle and them. One way to start any conversation is
   with pictures.
Children in the villages might ask you to click their picture. If you have a digital camera you are click and show them on screen.
Also if possible for you to bring some photos/postcards of your family, home, city or country where you live, animals peculiar to
   your country to show them.
People in Indian villages are very simple and hospitable. They might ask you to come to their house and have a cup of tea as tea
is a very common and untimely drink in India. They shall be very happy if you accept their invitation.

This trek combines the green of the Kinnaur region with the stark desolateness of the Spiti valley. The trek begins at Kafnoo in Kinnaur and crosses
over the Pin Bhaba pass at 4865 meters, the most frequently used crossing by the locals. The trail ascends along the left bank of the Wangar river after
crossing a footbridge. The path climbs through single crop fields of Mastrang and passes through a mixed forest of conifers and temperate broad-
leafed species. The trail climbs through little clearings of potato and buckwheat till it reaches the meadows of Mulling (3350 meters), fringed by birch
and birdcherry, leaving the Wangar river far below. From here the trail continues to Pistrang, a sheltered glade with a spring at one end and over a
steep ascent to the pass. The descent is more gradual to the Pin valley, over boulder-strewn glaciers, making it a sharp contrast to lush green Kinnaur.
This trek is combined with a drive through Spiti and its many important monasteries and quaint villages to make an experience only the valleys of
Kinnaur and Spiti can provide. There is an option to go to Leh. Just go through th itinerary and its options.

Microsoft Word Astounding Himalayas Trek

  • 1. Astounding Himalayas In ‘Sikand Purana’ it is recorded, in a hundred ages of God, I Village tourism Promoters could not tell thee of the glories of Himalayas’ Kishori Niwas, Longwood, Shimla – 171001, Himachal Pradesh (India) Contact : Shimla (0091- 9816149102, 91 – 9218797990), Delhi (0091 - 9313348742), E – Mail : astoundinghimalayas@gmail.com Website : www.astoundinghimalayas@synthasite.com Even if you are not traveling with us you are welcome to contact us for any kind of information regarding your visit to The Himalayas. When I touch the water of a mountain stream it flows with a melodious sound. Air waves my hair and clouds envelope me in their lap and I do not see around me. All of sudden they disappear and trees bend down to give me their lovely touch. When I walk through them they protect me with their palm shaped branches and I become a part of them. Oaks and Rhododendrons take me in their arms and lift me up through me up and make me touch the tops of pines. Come with me. I promise to take you to some of the most breathtaking scenery crossing uninhabited Plains, Gorges, Valleys and Mountain Passes. You shall also be exploring isolated Monasteries, Trekking in the remote areas, walk or drive through the stunning Landscapes and be staying in Village Houses at some places. Here at Astounding Himalayas We Promise to Take you to The Lap of Nature Welcome to Astounding Himalayas – Village Tourism Promoters. We are sure that you enjoy traveling in Himalayas ……Yes??? Well, no one can say No…… We start from Shimla – The Former Summer Capital of British Empire in India before 1947, and before returning to Manali, we cross the highest passes on the way Kunzum Pass (4551mt) & Rohtang Pass (3978 mt) OR Head towards Leh crossing world’s second motorable highest pass Tanglang La (5350 mt).
  • 2. Astounding Himalayas Village Tourism Promoters E – Mail : astoundinghimalayas@gmail.com Kindly Read the Following Carefully Before you Take These Trips Travel Research These treks are for those who enjoy walking & traveling without the knowledge of what is around and the next corner. Although we run these trekking programs on fixed itineraries but still we keep the trips as flexible as possible for your convenience and comforts of our clients. In these trips we offer the opportunity to trek to some remote areas where every one wishes to go at least once in his or her life but due to certain reasons, such as health, or time sometimes can’t go there. The following is to inform you that these trips require a very Special Type of Traveler; • One who enjoys in the unknown. • One who is ready for the ups and downs of exploratory travel. • One who does not expect silky comforts during the trips. • One who is prepared to pitch in and help when required. • One who does not care what is there around and after the next curve. Physical Rating The participant to these treks should have a good level of fitness. You may be expected to walk for 5-6 hours a day with your own day pack. On the treks we have porters or mules to carry all the material such as Tents, Your Luggage, Kitchen Equipment, Kitchen staff and injured. The terrain of the region is Mountainous and Challenging. The trails at a number of places are narrow, bumpy or dusty. At some places we might be crossing the streams or water flow. So due to these conditions we are likely to walk slow and might become irritating for you. But only those shall enjoy these treks who know how to enjoy the Natural beauty and the landscape around. We are dead sure that the Geographical Carvings and the Landscape on these treks is so stunning that it does not give you any opportunity to get irritated and leave your camera. The effects of altitude can be a problem, so the itineraries have been designed in such a way that we gain height gradually. Group Size Looking at the comforts of the Travelers and the Staff our group size remains as follows : • Maximum – 18 pax • Minimum - 2 pax Accommodation Guest Houses, Tents. During these treks we shall be traveling away from the usual and crowded tourist places. Somost of the time we shall be staying in tents pitched by us where as at some, a very few places are there where we have PWD Guest Houses and Forest Rest Houses. Although all the guest houses used are decided after a personal visit and have attached toilets and bathrooms but may not be able to provide hot water showers. During the treks we are bound to use pit tented toilets. Body sponging is possible at the places where showers are not available. Like European and American countries there are not any designated places to pitch tents during the treks and we are allowed to pitch tent where ever it is feasible. The only thing that we have to see is the water source. Transport Train, Jeeps, Bus, Walking. There are some very long travel days, often on rough dirt roads. Landslides, Road blockage or Vehicle Malfunction may cause disruption to the trip. So be ready for a sudden change in the itinerary that might extend your stay in India by two to five days. Meals All the treks are accompanied by a Professional Cook, Helpers and an Escort cum Guide who take care for comforts of the groups. All possible kitchen equipment and ration is carried along and Chinese, Continental & Indian items are the parts of the meals. Every time we try our best to provide the best possible food that includes, Fruits, Salads, Drinks, Juices, Mineral Water, Soup, Sweet Dish and the Main Course, but at some places may be we are unable to provide some particular item due to the shortage or unavailability of the material. Travel Insurance It is compulsory to get your Travel Insurance certificate to participate on any of our trips. When traveling on a group trip, you will not be permitted to join the group until evidence of travel insurance has been checked by your leader, who will take note of your insurance details. Health Before you travel to India it is advised that you should consult your doctor for up to date information and prescriptions for vaccinations, anti-malarial requirements and any reasonably foreseeable illnesses. Although a First Aid Box is always a part of our Kit along with the Oxygen Cylinder and Mask (One for each vehicle), still we recommend that you carry any personal medical requirements if you have.
  • 3. Astounding Himalayas Village Tourism Promoters E – Mail : astoundinghimalayas@gmail.com You might experience Acute Mountain Sickness and Oxygen deprivation. A first aid box is always carried along with the trip that contains all the required medicines. Season for Trekking In spring you might find snowy conditions anywhere in Himalayas in India above 8000 feet in elevation. Snow melts from spring onwards but also conditions vary from place to place. By the October any place in the Western Himalayas can be very cold. July to September are the rainy months in India so if you are trekking in Green areas, below 12000 ft, you might have long rainy days. Remmeber that himlayan climate is particularly dependant on two conditions, the elevation and the time of the year. So be prepared. A drop of 3.5 degree Fahrenheit for every 1000 feet gained in elevation is common. Cultural Shock India is a country which may be very different from something that you may have experienced before. In most of the small of big towns here pollution, poverty and the crowds can result in initial culture shock. Some villages are still under the poverty line but they follow their traditions and culture strictly. So all this should be seen as an exciting new challenge. Weather Conditions July to September are the monsoon months in India and there could be some unforeseen problems like road blockages due to land slides or roads damages. Although the Boarder Road Organization people are very well equipped and work very fast in these conditions but still then a change or delay in itinerary could be there or we reach the destination from some other route, however it is quite unlikely. In these conditions Government of India and the State tourism Department also become very active and extends the best possible help but we always seek your cooperation. Check out the India Meteorological web site http://www.imd.ernet.in/main_new.htm for the latest news on the weather forecast in India. Inner line Permit Spiti falls in the inner line area as it shares it boarders with Tibet & China. So you need to have inner line permit to visit these places which is an easy process. We attach herewith a form for the same that is to be filled and send along with the documents required. • A copy of Passport, A copy of Visa and 4 copies of your Photograph. Safety and Security Check with the embassy in your country and follow their advice for their latest travel information. It is recommended that you use a neck wallet or money belt while travelling, for the safe keeping of your passport, air tickets, travellers' cheques, cash and other valuable items. Leave your valuable jewelry at home as you won't need it while travelling. Keep your baggage under lock and key. Check List • Travel documents: passport, visa, travel insurance, air tickets. • Health requirements arranged. 1 photocopy of above documents, Money: cash/credit card/ travelers cheques, Money pouch. • First aid kit including rehydration salts, Sunscreen, lip balm and sunglasses due to harsh sunlight and exposure to high altitudes. • Wide brim hat or umbrella • Antibacterial hand gel, when water is scarce. • Day pack to carry your personal needs during the day. • Trekking boots – light weighted. • Boot Protector. • Floaters – as a backup footgear. • Thin Liner socks : 3 pairs • Heavier outer socks. • Tights, for Women. Three pairs are enough. • Bras. For Women, a couple. • Tampons or Sanitary Napkins. They are easily available in the open market. • Sleeping Bag • Toilet Paper. • Toilet Kit. • Insect Repellent. • Bug Powder. • A candle, large and small rubber bands, plastic bags, tape extra pens etc. Optional Accessories • A good book. • A digital Camera with a good quality lens. • Binoculars. • GPS. (If possible). Travel Light During the itinerary you will be traveling most of the time so pack as lightly as possible (stay under 10 kg/22lb). It is in your own interest as you are expected to carry your own luggage, though distances are never great. Most travelers carry their luggage in a back pack, although an overnight bag with a shoulder strap would suffice. Avoid Suitcases. Keep your bags locked. The smaller your bag is the better, for when it comes to traveling on trains or buses usually only smaller bags will fit into the storage areas. If your bag does not fit in these areas, often the only place to put it is on your seat or on the roof. So to get maximum comfort, pack small and light! The mountains can be cold. Night time temperatures can be as low as 5 degrees, so bring a set of warmer clothes; thermal underclothes, being small and light, can be very useful. A warm jumper/jacket, cap, gloves and sunglasses no matter what time of the year, as we travel at altitudes above 3500m. Dressing It is very important that when you are travelling to India, you kindly dress up keeping in mind the respect for the locale culture, especially Ladies. In some area you might have some people gathering around you, touching you and looking at you for a long time, as you are a foreigner. As a general guideline full shirts and full length skirts or knee covered skirts are recommended at all times. At some places or the religious buildings shorts are not allowed as it will restrict your entry into buildings. At religious places such as Bhima kali Temple at Sarahan or Kamru Fort in Sangla or some Monasteries you shall be required to cover your head. The cloth is provided by the temple. So kindly follow the tradition other wise the authorities might not allow you to enter the premises. You are required to cover your head before entering every Sikh Temple. You may cover it with a handkerchief or a piece of cloth provided by the temple. In India before entering all religious places you are required to remove your shoes. You can also bring a pair of floaters footwear those are easily available in the markets in India too, these footwear are easy to remove and wear. Photography and Interaction with Local During our treks there will be many opportunities for you to meet and talk with locals. You are allowed to take pictures but it is also suggested that you take permission before clicking their houses, lifestyle and them. One way to start any conversation is with pictures. Children in the villages might ask you to click their picture. If you have a digital camera you are click and show them on screen. Also if possible for you to bring some photos/postcards of your family, home, city or country where you live, animals peculiar to your country to show them. People in Indian villages are very simple and hospitable. They might ask you to come to their house and have a cup of tea as tea is a very common and untimely drink in India. They shall be very happy if you accept their invitation. Single Travelers Single travelers are welcome too. Although they have to pay more than the group members as they shall require a separate room and in case they require a separate vehicle too they have to pay extra amount for the full vehicle. Your Escort cum Guide Our all groups are accompanied by one of our group leaders. The aim of the group leader is to help you through out the trip and let you have a hassle free tour. He provides information about the places you are travelling through, offers suggestion for things to do and see, recommends local eating venues and introduces you to the local friends. He is your guide too as well and keeps a vast knowledge about the country, its traditions, culture, lifestyle, religion, and society. We also use local guides where we think more specific knowledge will add to the enjoyment of the places we are visiting. Your leader is available with you from on arrival day until your departure day. Your group leader has the authority to amend or cancel any part of the trip itinerary if it is deemed necessary due to safety and security reasons.
