Investment Accounting and portfolio valuation for US based Insurance Companies.
▪ End-to-end Trade processing for stocks including common stock, redeemable and perpetual
preferred stocks, bonds including Treasury bonds, Convertibles, callable bonds, Treasury Inflation
protected securities(TIPS), CMO including Interest only (IOs) principal only (POs) PAC, TAC, Z
tranches, MBS and Asset backed securities, Futures Options & Forwards
▪ Corporate actions processing, including spin-offs, mergers, stock splits, exchanges, reverse
stock splits, stock dividends, Bond Conversions, Options, Tender Offers
▪ Accounting and reviewing bond amortization schedule & CMO/MBS Cash Flow schedule, income
due and accruals, GL entries etc.
▪ General Ledger reconciliation with custody banks and review and research of variances.
▪ Security Pricing and valuation on portfolio level.
▪ Classification, Measurement and Reporting of Financial Assets based on US GAAP/IFRS
▪ General ledger setup and configuration and review of GL accounting entries in the system
including entries for accruals, amortizations, inflation adjustments in case of TIPS securities etc.
▪ Review of the Investment schedules for Statutory financial reporting (Long Term bonds,
Stocks, Cash equivalents etc.).
▪ Monthly, Quarterly and Annual filings of Schedule D, DA and DB with the NAIC. Schedules D, DA
and DB help with the Evaluation of yield and top-performing securities, as well as short- and
long-term investment activity.
▪ Reading the Investment Policy Statement provided by the Client and identifying the
Investment Managers and Investment Consultants; Communicate with various Investment
Managers for requests
▪ Create Compliance Rules in the Investments Environment based on the Investment Policy
Statement’s Rules and Allocation Criteria
▪ Experience in Training New Members on the Team.
▪ Communicating with SunGard Counterparts on the States’ side and handing various Client
Queries directly.
▪ Creating Export/Import formats for Databases to facilitate swift and accurate reading of
Client’s transaction and Positions File from formats like CSV, TXT.
▪ Recording VB Macros for Automation of Routine Procedures such as Bank File Formatting and
Asset Reconciliation

M.B.A Project: Tracking NIFTY Returns with Bank NIFTY over a 3-Month Horizon

Responsibilities: Track scripts of on the Bank Nifty Index vis-à-vis the CNX Nifty Index, Order entry
and client acquisition
Description: Based on a hypothesis that money supply would be a vital aspect in aiding India’s rapid
economic growth, Banks would have to play a crucial role in terms of money supply via Loans. This
meant an increase in the Balance sheet of all the banks and hence a stronger investor interest as
compared to other sectors. The report was based on analyzing the state of banking sector stocks
which will drive the Bank Nifty Index in the near to medium term and measure its performance with
the benchmark CNX Nifty.
Statistical Research involved obtaining mean average returns for Nifty and Bank Nifty and Calculating
Variance of Returns, Observing Volatility in Options pricing etc.
