●   Serious psychological problem

●   Many stereotypes (personal
    choyce, fashion...)
WHICH ARE THE EATING DISORDERS?

 ●   ANOREXIA: don't eat

 ●   BULIMIA: eat compulsively and then vomite,

     take laxatives, starve or do lots of exercise

 ●   COMPULSIVE OVEREATING: eat always

     compulsively. Result: overweight
WHO GETS EATING DISORDERS?

●   Young women (15-25 year-old)

●   Everybody can get them, but
    typical in people who uses food as
    a way to afford difficult situations
WHICH ARE THE CAUSES?
●   Combination of factors

●   Low self-esteem, problems with
    friendships and family
    relationships, the death of a loved
    one, problems at work or
    university, sexual abuse...
WHICH ARE THE SYMPTOMS?

●   FOR ANOREXIA AND BULIMIA: extreme
    weight      loss,    constipation    and
    abdominal pains, bloated stomach,
    puffy face or ankles, dry or discoloured
    skin, loss of interest in sex, lethargy,
    depression, poor skin condition, hair
    loss, bad breath and tooth decay,
    caused by excess vomiting, and, for
    girls, loss of periods
