Executive Leadership and Change
Mission, Vision, Strategic Goals and Learning Objective Form
Name: Jillian Strassburg
Mission - As a leader and student of leadership and change my mission is to be an effective leader,
encompassing knowledge and clinical skills necessary to execute clinical daily tasks and ensure service
excellence; an open and creative environment to exchange information and concerns will be promoted to both
teammates and patients.
Vision - As a leader and student of leadership and change my vision is to be optimistic in my work
environment, thus influencing other employee’s circle of influence; this promotes quality patient care, and may
improve patient outcomes. Providing an open and creative environment will allow for increased communication
amongst staff and patients, allow for generation of many ideas, and confirm optimal ideas are utilized, while
also ensuring issues will be dealt with in a timely manner.
Values: Teamwork / cooperation, service excellence / quality patient care, integrity / trust, Continuous
improvement / continued education, positive environment, accountability, creativity, and career fulfillment.
Beliefs: I believe work fulfillment influences a positive home environment for both the employee and those
they serve. It is essential to provide excellent care and provide a positive environment while in the work setting.
To survive in this rapidly changing health care field, it is essential to come up with creative and innovative
approaches to do work tasks in a highly efficient manner, while still providing an optimal level of care.
Self focused Goal 1: Hone my leadership style, create a personal leadership brand, facilitate meaningful
conversations with staff members, and operate my clinic utilizing an open communication format.
To be accomplished by (timeline): Now-first six months of graduation of leadership program
Describe what it looks like once accomplished? How can success be measured: Communication will be open
and honest. Communication will be free flowing, promoting a positive environment by allowing for positive
criticism, knowledge, and allow for engagement in activities of needed improvement. Utilizing facilitation in
meetings, creative problem solving will allow for several options for future work processes. Surveys and
feedback cards may be used to facilitate this process and evaluate its effectiveness.
Group, Team focused Goal 2: Influence other employee’s circle of influence by providing an optimistic
environment.
To be accomplished by (timeline): 6 months-1 year
Describe what it looks like once accomplished? How can success be measured: Staff will know they are not a
product of their environment, and thus take accountability for their thoughts and actions. This can improve
quality of patient care and indicate a significant change in service excellence, while also allowing for work
fulfillment. Staff can work in a facilitation group to come up with mutually chosen ideas to implement, ensuring
they have a voice in their work environment. This can be evaluated by survey of work satisfaction and work
performance evaluation regarding how well my clinic is running.
Organization, system or community focused Goal 3: Service excellence and quality improvement
To be accomplished by (timeline): Constantly a top priority
Describe what it looks like once accomplished? How can success be measured: Significant improvements in
overall health shown on labs and decreased infection rates in patients. Teammates will be satisfied, thus
improving satisfaction of patients in a fulfilling health profession environment. Quality of life depending on
national questionnaires will show improvement overall. Productivity in the work place will be improved, thus
increasing adequacy of care and improving financial budget. Opportunities for advancement within our facility
will be possible, and rewards for enhancing quality of life will be distributed to team members based on merit.
Knowledge and skills. List what it is you need to know or know more about:
Will continue to focus on inter-teammate relations, team building, conflict resolution, and stress reduction. Will
continue to utilize positivity to enhance productivity within the workplace. Prioritization and delegation of tasks
will continue to be utilized while on the job. Continued educational seminars and furthering graduate level
education are paramount to future success of this writer, as well as for team members.
