4. Documentation
The s2Member plugin is well documented
Every configuration option comes with detailed
documentation built right into the interface.
Video Tutorials http://s2member.com/videos/
Online forum is somewhat lacking
NO phone or live chat support - even for Pro version
5. What s2member does
Manage users / subscriptions to your site
Must be logged in to view restricted content
Restrict content based on membership
6. Login Design
s2Member allows you to re-design the
standard WordPress login page
I've used the plugin just for this feature alone
There are other plugins that do this, but
s2Member does it better IMO
7. Membership levels
Must be logged in to view restricted content.
4 levels of access:
Free (email registration)
Bronze
Silver
Gold
Access is cumulutive - i.e. Silver can access
Bronze, Gold can access Silver, etc.
8. s2Member allows you to:
Restrict based on membership level... e.g.
gold, silver, bronze or free
Restrict specific posts, pages and categories
Restrict to post/page access w/ timeout (no
user subscription - one time purchase)
9. Payment features
Free version supports PayPal
Pro version supports Paypal Payments Pro, Authorize.Net,
ClickBank, Google Checkout, AliPay, and ccBill.
No support for upsells (auto-promotional features) but in
its place it has “One-Time-Offers” which you can display
to users upon logging in.
Supports coupon codes for PayPal Website Payments Pro
and Authorize.Net
10. Paypal buttons
Paypal purchase buttons are inserted using
shortcodes
A handy shortcode builder is included with the
plugin to create your Paypal buttons
These buttons are generally placed on the
membership options page
11. Paypal Configuration
Involves many settings - logins, keys, urls,
various on/off switches
Difficult to find all these in Paypal account
(not a fault of s2Member)
s2Member documentation innacurate
regarding where Paypal settings located
(search on paypal to find)
12. Login landing page
Allows you to configure which page is
displayed when user logs in.
Typically a welcome page, thanking the user
for subscribing
Good place for navigation to featured content
13. User Profile Built In
Easily add a user profile in the sidebar or page
[s2Member-Profile /]
Allows user to change email address,
password, etc.
15. Other features
Easily integrate with Mailchimp - can maintain
different lists for each membership level
Support for content dripping like this:
<?php if(S2MEMBER_CURRENT_USER_PAID_REGISTRATION_DAYS >= 30){ ?>
Drip content to Members that started paying you at least 30 days ago.
<?php } ?>
