Studies have shown that it takes an average of 8:12 minutes to set up and start a meeting in a traditional video conferencing room. A lot of valuable time is wasted simply trying to get the meeting started. Most conference rooms are not enabled for video or collaborative data sharingEase-of-use results in minimal training requirements and increased adoption.Traditional video conferencing has been available for decades, and many organizations have made substantial investments to deploy these systems without fully realizing their return on investment. Not only are these systems costly but often they are complex and intimidating for the average meeting attendee. In many cases, these traditional video conferencing solutions remain under-utilized or neglected due to this fact
Microsoft Lync provides a single interface based on user identity and presence that unites voice, instant messaging, video and data conferencing. This consolidation of one integrated platform significantly reduces IT and telephony costs for the organization, while drastically improving the user experience.
Microsoft set out to achieve 3 main goals for Lync Room SystemsPain Free meeting startMeetings are easy to start and don’t require users to set up technology; a single click launches a meeting; users may display content from a laptop, or they can run the meeting using the embedded PC to display and interact with contentRemote attendees are includedRegardless of where attendees are located, they can feel as though they are part of the meeting with the ability to interact with content, as well as see and hear everything that is going on in the room. Meetings are easier to manageThe room control console makes it simple to manage the meeting; switch between presenters; access meeting content or switch to the whiteboard for brainstorming and idea capture; manage all aspects of the meeting from a single location
The SMART Room System includes all of the components sold as a single SKU. Everything is manufactured by SMART and designed to seamlessly work together. This simplifies the installation and support of the system.

Increased field of view allows users to see the entire room. Most cameras cut off the first 2 chairs. This can be problematic because typically it is the presenters or facilitators who sit in these positions. With the SMART camera it is easier for remote users to experience the full meeting. Also, because there is no need to use pan/tilt/zoom functions of the camera, everyone can stay engaged into the conversation instead of needing to spend time focused on the technology. The SMART camera adjusts to virtually any lighting condition, and it is positioned so that users feel as if they are looking each other in the eye, making it a more natural experience when speaking with remote users.
