2. Tom Brady
This photo has a broad depth of field as the
whole photograph is in view.
Tom is giving the audience direct address so it
draws you into his face ad eyes, this is also
helped by the lighting used as it is purely on
him.
There is more focus on Tom in this photo but
still some attention is focused on the dog next
to him.
The suit stand out from the grey background
as it makes him look presentable by hiding
how he really is on the pitch.
The chain around the dogs neck
The use of the dog is a connotation as on the
football pitch (American) he is an animal and
doesn’t hold back.
The camera angle used, low angle, makes him
look powerful and respected.
3. There is a broad depth of field used in this photograph.
Both models give the audience direct address.
The white and black costumes contrast each other.
The makeup used is extreme but blend into their surrounding and costume appearance.
By using lost expressions on their faces it draws you into
4. This image of William and Kate taken by
Mario Testino has a narrow depth of field, as
the background is blurred out but William
and Kate are clear.
The focus in this photo is the engagement
ring on Kate’s finger. It has the most colour in
the whole photo as the outfits they have
been put in don’t draw your attention away
from the ring.
The whole photo itself has been posed as the
way William in holding Kate doesn’t look
natural, it is all about the ring and not
themselves. But it shows that William is very
protective over Kate.
The lighting used is artificial as the light
outside isn't creating the shadows that
normal day lighting would. The lighting
though creates a warm and homely
atmosphere.
The aim if this photo was to show off the new
ring but still make them look like normal
people.
5. This is the first of two photos I have
chosen to analyse from the work of
Mario Testino.
The reason for choosing this photo was
because of the format and the figure
within the photo.
By photographing Emma Watson, in the
way Testino has it presents her as a
young, innocent girl who has worked her
way into stardom.
There is a narrow depth of field used in
this photo.
The contrast between the white clothing
and black background draws out the
features on Emma’s face, the lighting
also helps to do this.
The pose that Emma has be positioned
allows her to use direct address and
makes her seem all sweet.
6. This is the second photo I have chosen to analyse from the works of Mario Testino.
I was automatically drawn to the colours used in this photo. The fiery red and orange used
catches the viewers eye straight away.
The close up shot allows you to focus straight away onto the models face.
This photo was clearly used in an advert, maybe for makeup as the photo is focused on her
face.
The hand draws your eyes to her bright red lips.
The photographer has used direct address in this photo.
