Perhaps one of the more inter-
esting tablets on the market right now,
the Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Pro stands out
as both innovative and nifty. But let’s
deal with the elephant in the room first:
its unusual design. The first thing that
you’ll notice is a cylindrical structure
on the back where the Dolby speakers
and the pico projector are mounted. It
can be flipped out into a stand or hooked
onto a wall. Basically, the jury is still out
on this one. Those who hate it say it’s a
weird addition that just adds bulk, while
those who love it call the design an in-
telligent solution for entertainment
junkies because it allows the tablet to be
placed at a variety of angles.
That aside, the Tab 3 Pro sports a
pretty solid build with a mix of leather,
plastic, metal and glass. The premium
leather finishing at the back makes it
nice to hold, while its predominantly
plastic body doesn’t reduce the quality
and the feel of the device. The projector
hinge and flap are made of metal, giving
the Tab 3 Pro a solid and tough appeal—
though the added weight might be off-
putting for some.
Having a projector as part of a tab-
let sounds a little gimmicky, but you
might be surprised how useful it could
actually be. The function can be ac-
tivated by holding down a button at
the base of the cylindrical structure.
It will then beam images up to 178cm
in length across any flat surface. Since
it is a pico projector, don’t expect an
exceptionally sharp or bright projec-
tion (480p resolution and 50lumens),
as compared to a normal projector. It
gets the job done in a dimly-lit room on
a flat, white surface and will definitely
come in handy for sharing videos and
images with friends and family. Heck,
you might even have fun fiddling with
it while lying on your bed watching
YouTube. Once you’ve beamed an im-
age onto a wall, it’s just a matter of us-
ing the small dial that appears to the
right of the screen to adjust the focus,
and then you’re good to go.
Performance-wise, the Tab 3 Pro
is pretty consistent when it comes to
surfing the web, streaming videos or
playing games, which are only slowed
down when downloading apps or up-
dating backgrounds, a typical occur-
rence for tablets and doesn’t hinder
the overall experience. Powered by

is paired with 2gb of DDR3 RAM that
levels it out with other similar offer-
ings on the market. The screen meas-
ures 10.1in with a 2,560 x 1,600 qhd
resolution, making it as sharp as any
tablet screen can get these days. With
a 13 megapixel rear camera and 4.9mp
front, the camera in the Tab 3 Pro puts
it above the rest, though what sounds
good doesn’t necessarily mean the
best. All in all, picture quality is decent
for tablet standards, but the camera
runs laggy so don’t expect to take any
action shots. The battery life is around
eight hours, an exceptional feat given
the bright and high-resolution screen.
However, this is before the projector
is activated. Once it is, expect battery
life to drain pretty fast at about one to
two percent every two to three min-
utes. However, if you were to use the
projector sparingly, the Tab 3 Pro can
last for quite a while.
Overall, the Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Pro
might not appeal to everyone, but it defi-
nitely stands out, because there’s no oth-
er similar offering on the market right
now. If you like to share content with
friends and family, look no further than
this handy, hassle-free option.
