 Deck are supported by cables.
 This Bridge can with
stand earthquake up to 8.0
richter scale.
 This bridge longest highway bridge as well as largest bridge
(SPAN).
 Marine geology underneath the bridge consist of
basalt, volcanic tuffs and breccias with some interappen
deposits.
 4 Lane Bridge.
 Situated in Japan.
 Six lane roadway.
 Design- suspension bridge.
 Total height = 282.8m.
 Total length = 3911m.
 Span length = 1991m.
 Opened in 15th April 1998.
 This bridge also Known as PEAR BRIDGE.
 Design with two hinged stiffening grider – allows
strength to withstand wind of 286km/h
earthquake upto 8.5 richter scale.
 Bridge contains pendulum that are designed to operate at the
resonance frequency of the bridge to dropen force.

 Completely Steel arch bridge.
 Nickname – Coathanger, because of its Arch –based
DESIGN.
 Large steel pins are used at the end of the ARCH.
allowing it to rotate to accommodate expansion and
contraction caused by change in temperature and
avoiding stresses, cause damage.
 Total weight of steel work of the bridge including the
arch span 52,300 tones, with arch itself weight 39,000
tones.
 Situated in India , Rameshwaram, Tamilnadu.
 Official Name – Annat Indira Gandhi Bridge.
 Design – Cantilevel Bridge.
 Refer to both road bridge & cantilever railway bridge.
 India's first Sea bridge.
 It is 2nd Longest bridge in India (after bandra-worli-

Bridges construction

  • 2.  Situated in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.  Official Name – Rajiv Gandhi SEA Link.  DESIGN- Cable stayed Bridge.  Steel – Pre- stressed.  Total Length = 5.6km.  Width- 40 meter.  Height – 126 meter.  Opened – 30 June 2009.  Deck are supported by cables.  This Bridge can with stand earthquake up to 8.0 richter scale.
  • 3.  This bridge longest highway bridge as well as largest bridge (SPAN).  Marine geology underneath the bridge consist of basalt, volcanic tuffs and breccias with some interappen deposits.  4 Lane Bridge.
  • 4.  Situated in Japan.  Six lane roadway.  Design- suspension bridge.  Total height = 282.8m.  Total length = 3911m.  Span length = 1991m.  Opened in 15th April 1998.  This bridge also Known as PEAR BRIDGE.  Design with two hinged stiffening grider – allows strength to withstand wind of 286km/h earthquake upto 8.5 richter scale.
  • 5.  Bridge contains pendulum that are designed to operate at the resonance frequency of the bridge to dropen force.
  • 6.  Situated in India, Jammu-Kashmir.  Crosses Chenab river.  Design – Arch Bridge.  Material – Steel & concrete.  Total length = 1263m.  Height = 359m.  No. of Span= 17.  Have to be completed in Dec.-2009 but due to some reason work stopped & now expected to completed in 2015.
  • 7.  Situated in Shanghai, China.  The walk way is 5.5M. HIGH. ( can fit 15 people walking side by side.)  Large scale circular bridge cables pedestrians to avoid traffic.  Consists of numerous escala- tor stairway for entrance & exists.
  • 8.  Situated in Allahabad , UP.  Carrier – 6 Lanes highway with pedestrain .  Design – Cable stayed bridge.  Aim- to minimize traffic over mc old nani bridge.  Bridge runs across Yamuna river connecting the city Allahabad to neighbour Naini.
  • 9.  Construction begains from 2000 to end in 2004.  Designer- Hindustan Construction Company . Hyundai.  Material – Steel.  Total Length – 1501 M.  Width – 250 M.  Longest span – 260M.
  • 10.  Situated in Kolkata West- Bengal.  Carries – Two way with 3 general purpose lanes in each directions.  Crosses – Ganga river.  Design – Cable Stayed Bridge.  Total length – 8922.96m  Width – 35 m.  Longest span – 457.2 m.  Opened in 10th October ,1992 .  It is also known as second Ho0ghly Bridge.  Longest cable stayed bridge in India and one of the longest in Asia.  The bridge is used by 30,000 vehicle daily.
  • 11.  Considerably less than the capacity of 85,000.  Took 22 years to complete in which seven of years have construction activity.
  • 12.  Situated in west Bengal.  Cantilever Bridge with suspended span over Hooghly River.  Official name – Rabindra Setu.  Carries – 8 lanes highway bridge.  Crosses – Hooghly Rive.  Designer – Randel & Palmer.  Material – Steel.  Total Length- 705 M.
  • 13.  Design – Suspension type balanced cantilever & truss Arch.  Width – 30m.  Height – 82m.  Longest span – 457.2m.  Constructed by – Cleveland Bridge & Engineering Company.  Constructed in 1942.  Daily traffic – 1,00,000 vehicles & 1,50,000 pedestrains.  Sixth Longest Bridge of its type in World.
  • 14.  Situated in San Francisco, California, US.  Design – Suspension, truss Arch & truss cause.  Material – Steel.  Total length – 27KM.  Width – 27.4 M.  Height – 227.4 M.  Longest Span – 1280.2M.  Bridge cross over Pacific ocean .  It has been declared one of wonders of the Modern world by The “American Society of Civil ENGINEER”
  • 15.  Bridge – 6 lane HIGHWAY.  Golden gate bridge – second most common suicide site in the world after Nanjng Yangzi River Bridge.  Longest Suspension bridge main Span in the world (1280.2M).  Allowable Speed has been reduced from (89KM/H) to ( 72 KM/H)
  • 16.  Situated in China.  496 metres high.  4 lane road way.  World’s highest Bridge.  Completed in 2009, Opened in 15th Nov. 2009.  High way bridge.  Suspension bridge design.
  • 17.  Expected to be the world’s highest rail bridge.
  • 18.  Situated in Sydney , Australia .  Design - Arch Bridge.  Carries – Train , Motor vehicles, pedestrians and bicycles.  Total Length = 1149M.  Width = 49M.  Height = 134M.  Longest Span = 503M.  Constructed From = 28 July 1923 to 19 July 1932
  • 20.  Completely Steel arch bridge.  Nickname – Coathanger, because of its Arch –based DESIGN.  Large steel pins are used at the end of the ARCH. allowing it to rotate to accommodate expansion and contraction caused by change in temperature and avoiding stresses, cause damage.  Total weight of steel work of the bridge including the arch span 52,300 tones, with arch itself weight 39,000 tones.
  • 21.  Situated in India , Rameshwaram, Tamilnadu.  Official Name – Annat Indira Gandhi Bridge.  Design – Cantilevel Bridge.  Refer to both road bridge & cantilever railway bridge.  India's first Sea bridge.  It is 2nd Longest bridge in India (after bandra-worli- sea-link)  rail bridge resting on concrete piers.  Have double leaf bas cule section midway, can be raised to let ships & barges pass through it.
