Understand who you are
You can understand who you are by understanding your personality.
This is covered in the various C-VAT personality report as well as this
C-VAT Career Type Report. Knowing who you are, forms the
fundamental of your job search. Although knowing who you are, doesn’t
get you the job, it tells you what to look out for. If you do not know who
you are internally, then nothing on the external will satisfy you.
Your next steps
Gather information about yourself
through self-reflection, close
friends and mentors. Use the
various C-VAT reports to help you
understand more about yourself.
You may want to talk to a career
coach.
Know what interest you
Interest is an important part of a career search. If you are in a job that
interest you, then it is easy to wake up everyday to go to work. Ask
yourself what hobbies do you have? What do you enjoy doing the most.
Is it possible to make it into a job that pays? What tasks do you
perform easily?
Your next steps
Look around you. What do you like
doing most? If your favourite past
time is eating, perhaps there’s a
way around it? While no one can
make a career out of eating, how
about being in the food industry?
Know what you can do
Apart from understanding your personality and interest, you need to
know if you have the knowledge, education, qualification, skills to do
what you are interested in. If you do not have them, then this is where
you plan various routes to acquire these knowledge. They can be
through studying in an education institute, on the job training or as an
intern.
Your next steps
Some careers require you to have
the right qualifications in order to
be in the industry. Your next step
is to find out if you need to acquire
the right qualification to move into
this industry.
Know the context
You may have a specific interest or an ability to do something very well
but if no one is hiring, then it is just a dream. Research on who is hiring
in the market by checking out what is available on job portals. Visit
career fairs and find opportunities to meet the hiring companies. Ask
what do they hire the people for? What tasks do the people really
perform? When you understand this, it is easier to fit your personality,
your interest and your ability and get hired.
Your next steps
Your next step is to research in
the job offerings in the industry.
How many similar job positions
are there? Is the pay and job
satisfaction what you are looking
for? Remember to leave your
computer and start talking to real
people.
Know your attitude
Hiring companies are looking for people who is malleable. This means
whether you allow yourself to be moulded to fit in. Because every
company is different, hiring companies are looking for people who can
adapt to their way of working and canwork with their current team. A
person who is open to fit in stands a higher chance than a person who
insist on his or her own way of working.
Your next steps
Talk to your close friends,
teachers and career coach to
prepare you for your job interview.
If you are not selected, it is good
to review and improve so that the
next one will be better.

1. What is psychometrics and how does it benefit me as a job seeker?
Psychometrics is the field of study concerned with the objective measurement of personality traits.
Every one of us is different because of our personality. When we are in a job that fits our personality - a job that makes the most
of our strengths and abilities -we will find it interesting and we will be able to perform the job easily. When we are not in a job that
is a good fit with our personality, we will find it hard to perform the duties that are required of us.
2. Will my C-VAT report be disclosed to employers?
Your C-VAT report will not be disclosed to any employers and will be kept private and confidential.
3. How is the C-VAT career recommendation report designed?
The C-VAT career recommendation report is based ontrait theories. Traits are inherent characteristics that we have. Based on C-
VAT’s research, 8 job types were identified based on their common trait characteristic. Upon completion of this questionnaire, the
system will match you with the database recommended jobs.
4. Does this mean that I will have to follow this report?
This report is meant only to be a guide. It will not contain other dynamic factors that includes but is not limited to, age, skill,
education, experience, knowledge, market conditions, organizational culture, interest, etc.
You are advised to seek a certified life or career coach should you need further clarification.
5. Will my results/ profile change?
Traits are less likely to change. However, if you have experienced a great dramatic change in life, some elements of your beliefs
system may change. Each report has a shelf life of 12 to 24 months and you will have the opportunity to re-take this psychometric
test every 12 months.
6. I am going for a job interview, should I get my friend/ sibling who is more intelligent to take the test for me?
When companies use psychometric tests, they want to achieve the best fit between you and the job. This way, you will be able to
do your job well and stay longer in the job. Getting someone else to do the test for you will not help you in the long run as the
recommended jobs may not be suitable for you. Moreover, if the company is using a personality test, they are assessing your
personality-job fit and not intelligence-job fit.
7. Is that all to the report?
There are additional reports that can help you understand more of yourself. They are available at the next phase of
implementation.
8. What happens next?
Now that you understand a little more of yourself, you may want to explore the jobs under the recommended list to understand
more about yourself.

The C-VAT career recommendation report is based ontrait theories. Traits are inherent characteristics that we have. Based on C- VAT’s research, 8 job types were identified based on their common trait characteristic. Upon completion of this questionnaire, the system will match you with the database recommended jobs. 4. Does this mean that I will have to follow this report? This report is meant only to be a guide. It will not contain other dynamic factors that includes but is not limited to, age, skill, education, experience, knowledge, market conditions, organizational culture, interest, etc. You are advised to seek a certified life or career coach should you need further clarification. 5. Will my results/ profile change? Traits are less likely to change. However, if you have experienced a great dramatic change in life, some elements of your beliefs system may change. Each report has a shelf life of 12 to 24 months and you will have the opportunity to re-take this psychometric test every 12 months. 6. I am going for a job interview, should I get my friend/ sibling who is more intelligent to take the test for me? When companies use psychometric tests, they want to achieve the best fit between you and the job. This way, you will be able to do your job well and stay longer in the job. Getting someone else to do the test for you will not help you in the long run as the recommended jobs may not be suitable for you. Moreover, if the company is using a personality test, they are assessing your personality-job fit and not intelligence-job fit. 7. Is that all to the report? There are additional reports that can help you understand more of yourself. They are available at the next phase of implementation. 8. What happens next? Now that you understand a little more of yourself, you may want to explore the jobs under the recommended list to understand more about yourself.
