mad tech consumers compelled the tech giant to submit to their wants and eventually
give in to people’s ‘I told you so’s’. Well, the case in point is the very regal rebirth of the
iPhone clan, with the taller and slimmer iPhone 5 as the newest addition to the family.
It also seems that Apple is getting worse when it comes to keeping things hidden in the
closet. Not sticking to Apple’s usual practice of notorious silence over rumors and
fearless forecasts, are the people from the smartphone juggernaut ignorant of non-
disclosure policies? Before I was able to behold the new design of the sixth generation
iPhone, I had already seen its ‘design’ calling attention on news sites and blog reviews.
Looking back, it was as if even before the embers of iPhone 5 became a massive
firelight, the trickles of rumors had already started to slowly douse its cinders. You see,
among all past iPhone installments, the iPhone 5 probably was the most leaked and
premeditated of all. Have we finally found our way through Apple’s impenetrable sets
of marketing subterfuge? Have we at last found the curtain roller behind its fantastic
shows? And why now, after the fifth time?
THE EXPOSÉ
Just like the dominant rumors in cyberspace, the iPhone 5 came out with the glass and
aluminum body. It actually comes 18% thinner and 20% lighter than its predecessor, the
iPhone 4S. Hell yeah! It is even lighter than Samsung’s current smartphone frontrunner-
the Galaxy S III. The most notable feature of the iPhone 5, on top of all these jewels, is
the 4-inch screen that is also faithful to the rumors surrounding it before its momentous
arrival. Even if the iPhone 5 seems a little bit late since HTC, Samsung, and Motorola
have already released smartphones with wider displays, that fact still doesn’t take

2. away one’s interest in seeing how a bigger screen complements the essential
functionalities of the iPhone.
The display also sports better color saturation with full support of standard (red, green,
and blue) RGB rendering. Extra icons can also be placed on the added space of the
home screen. Other apps underwent modifications like iWork Suite, Garage Movie, and
iMovie.
But of course, who can forget the significance of the long awaited LTE? This 4G support
demand generates an attractive hype for the iPhone 5. Basically, the integration of this
technology significantly amps the web surfing and download experience, making
online content consumption easier and faster.
As with the camera, nothing much has changed. Oh, let me restate that: NOTHING has
changed. It’s still the same 8-megapixel iSight camera with a 5-element lens. Apple
could have improved it just a little. So far, the competitor of this camera technology is
Nokia’s 808 Pureview with an astounding 41-megapixel camera. That’s a LOT, if you
want to ask my opinion.
