2. USE
• The use of EMPIRE Magazine review was used because often Film
Trailers refer to reviews to sell their product.
• We used the tag line as text in the Trailer also instead of using a
voice over, this is similar to the Descent which used captions
without a voice over.
• The Descent also influenced the clip of the photo being took as we
thought it was effective with a booming noise added to it.
• We also used a handheld camera which was inspired by the likes of
The Blair Witch project, to create realness and believability.
• Another section that could be mentioned is the use of stereotypical
codes and conventions of a horror film; the woods, low key lighting,
dark colours, scary sounds etc.
4. DEVELOP
• Film Trailers often show their Distribution &
Production Company Logos in their trailers, so to
develop this we had to create our own Logos and
names which we came up with Paranormal
Pictures, Broken Media and Omen Pictures.
• Another element of Development is the use of
Captions which is used in other products but
developed because we came up with our own to
suit our Trailer.
6. CHALLENGE
• The first thing we challenged was the use of the
green tinge which we used over the footage of
Josh and other pieces such as the friend Amy who
seems suspicious.
• We made the sound ourselves, using water in
glasses to create the scary and eerie effect.
• We wanted a Female lead character who is good
and trying to research into Josh’s disappearance,
we felt this is a unique touch because it is usually
a group of people or a male character who is the
protagonist.
