from fire
  AGUSTÍN PELÁEZ VÉLEZ-MÁLAGA

When Yolanda Mesa and David Mu-
ñoz saw that their nextdoor neigh-
bour’s house was on fire they knew
there was no time to wait for the
fire brigade to arrive. At around 2
a.m. they heard shouting and saw
their neighbour at the window of
his house. Seeing that his face was
black and blistered and that he was
feeling faint Yolanda held him up
through the railings while David
and later more neighbours tried to
break the door down. Eventually
they managed to pull the 70 year
old man out onto the pavement. He
is now recovering in Malaga’s Car-
los Haya hospital. Yolanda required
treatment at the local health cen-
tre for burns to her hand.
