It may be hard to swallowforsome,butask Doc Joneswhetherhisteam’s2015 Fall campaignwas a
successand the answerisa deliberate,“No.”
“Not at all,”he said.“We metour goal to winRugbyEast, but we lostto PennState.” Atthe top
echelonsof competition,eliminatingsingularblemishes becomesthe focus. Kutztown’sgoalsthisyear
are as always,towinthe conference andtodo it bydefeatingall comers.NoeasyfeatinRugbyEast any
year,thisseasoncouldprove evenmore difficult.
Withthree otherconference teamscurrentlyinthe D1A Top-Twenty,aSt.Bonaventure clubthatshould
be betterthan ever,and the reinstatedUniversityof Delaware,2016 RugbyEast isfilledwithland
mines.
To stay aheadof the competition,Jonesintensifiedhisrecruitingeffortsandhe believesthis year’s
freshmenwillprove tobe the bestrecruitingclasshe’severhad. Thatisno small statement. Reporting

. With 23 incomingfreshmen, Jonespointstonofewerthan seven
recruitswho couldhave an immediate impacton the squad.

2. Athleteslike D’Montae Nobleof the MarylandExiles,andUSHighSchool All-American,BrandonBoon
beganthe two a day regimen lastweek underJones’guruof S&C,Larry Chester. Joneswillnotbe
drawingupany particulargame plansuntil he has seenthe boysinactionfor a few more sessions.“I
alwayschange the attack to fitpersonnel,”he said.“The conference is tootough.Youcan’t do the same
thingeveryyear.”
JonesandChesterdoalreadyknowtheycan expectstrengthfromtheirfrontrow.Whatthe packlooks
like behindthatis theirfirstreal concernonthe year.“Back Row will be the keyto whetherornotwe
can openthat offense up.(Otherwise)the style will be the same,runthroughthe centersandgetit
wide.”
KU won’tbegintheirin-conference seasonuntil Sept.24th
,buttheywill playWilmingtonmen’sclub the
weekendbefore.Bythen,JonesandChesterwillknow whatthey’vegot. Afterthat, there are noweeks
off throughthe endof the year.With Armyand PennState consecutivelybefore andafterHalloween,
Joneshashis intensity plansinplace tomake sure the GoldenBearsare peakingatthe endof October,
insteadof at the beginning.
We shouldall circle that Nov.4th
clash withPennState.Thatmatch (once again) has the potential to
weighinas the moneymakerinthe conference title hunt.
