Canon Powershot S5is
     8.0 megapixels
Canon Powershot S5is
•8-megapixel
•image-stabilized 12x optical zoom lens
• focal range of 36-432mm (35mm equivalent),
•an SLR-like design,
•an articulated LCD,
•a versatile feature set that mixes a full range of manual
exposure controls (Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority, and
Manual) with easy-to-use Auto, Program, and Scene modes).
What’s a mega pixel?
•In digital imaging, a pixel (or picture element) is a single
point in a raster image.
•The pixel is the smallest addressable screen element, it is
the smallest unit of picture which can be controlled.
•The word pixel is based on a contraction of pix ("pictures")
and el (for "element");
•A megapixel (MP) is 1 million pixels, and is a term used not
only for the number of pixels in an image, but also to express
the number of image sensor elements of digital cameras
• therefore the Canon Powershot S5is uses 8,000,000 pixels
to take a picture
• this about the same contrast as a 35mm 400iso film (medium
speed 35mm film)
