Estimating methodology:
Most of the projects that I have worked on have been firm fixed priced RFP’s. Bidding firm
fixed price projects requires that you bid to the specs and with only those positions that are
required field positions. A careful risk analysis may be required to quantify those areas of
work that may not be specified but may be required to execute the work, as such inclusion of
some contingency is included to mitigate the risk. Discussion with senior level management
will provide direction and guidance on the level of that mitigating contingency included in
the bid.
